John S. Sisson was a farmer in Exeter, RI, and worked at the Pine Hill Post Office. He has been confused with his cousin John (born about 1818), son of Rodman Sisson, Jr. Sources: The Sisson Newsletter, v 5 #2 p 15; Washington County, RI, death records, p 219, Ref 48/49.

This is probably the Andrew J. Sisson, 30, a laborer listed in the 1880 census for Portsmouth in the house of Catherine Williams with wife Henrietta, born circa 1842 in Maine. This could be the Henrietta Sisson, 70, a widow, born in Maine who was an inmate in the Portsmouth Town Asylum listed in the 1910 census.

2236. William B. SISSON-2728 (Moses L. , James , Joseph , James , George , Richard ) was born in 1808 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. He died on 30 Dec 1886. He was buried in Union Cemetery, Portsmouth, RI.

Carol Sisson Regehr's research shows that a title search was conducted in 1996 on the Mintwater Brook Farm house and property, which shows that it was owned in 1865 by William B. (7) Sisson (Richard 1, George 2, James 3, Joseph 4, James 5, Moses 6, William B. 7). In 1865 the property consisted of 6 acres. Carol says, "Relevant censuses indicate that Moses and William B. owned significantly more property than what they were living on, and that Susan and Philadelphia Sisson, sisters, bought the Mintwater house from them." William's daughter-in-law Mary A. (Elliott) was born circa 1857 in Pennsylvania. Grandson Frederick Mason was born circa 1872; he was in household of his grandparents William and Mary in 1880 according to the 1880 census for Portsmouth, RI.

William married (MRIN:1471) Mary T DURFEE-6458, daughter of James DURFEE-11860 and Mary PEARCE-12930 (MRIN:3007), on 27 Feb 1834. Mary was born on 23 Dec 1811. She died on 7 May 1886.

Mary T. (Durfee) Sisson is buried in Union Cemetery, Portsmouth, Rhode Island, according to the Rhode Island Cemetery Database. Barbara Austin has seen the grave and has taken a picture of it.
