William Lewis Jr. was a hotel keeper and the family lived in Cooperstown, Otsego County, New York. William's sister Elizabeth married William's wife Esther Sisson's brother Gilbert, Jr. He was commissioned mayor of that town by the governor of New York.

"Charles G. Sisson, one of the foremost capitalists of New Jersey, died Friday evening last, at his residence in Tenafly.  He was born in Middleton, Conn., and began his business life in the grocery trade.  He settled in Jersey City about 30 years ago, and became a great contractor for public works.  He constructed the Northern Railroad of New Jersey and was the principal stockholder in it, being president of the company at the time of his death.  He also took a
large share in the work of opening the Bergen Tunnel of the Erie Railway.  Mr. Sisson's property (apart from this) is estimated to have amounted to over $7,000,000"
