Clark's "Military History of Wayne County" (1884): William Sisson was appointed judge of county court April 18, 1823, "first judge" on 5 Feb 1830 (according to the Rochester "O." newspaper for 5 Feb 1830, p 23, column 4), was succeeded as master of chancery by Jos. Margorie Perez, Historian of the Town of Lyons, says that his office was on the south side of Water Street with his original home across the street on the north side. He later built a large residence on the west side of Broad Street near the corner of Church Street. The house had a row of pillars across the front. This house was later moved to the west side of William Street where it was standing in 1904. "Grips' Historical Souvenir of Lyons," (1904) page 27, says "The old Lyons Bank occuplied the present Bank of Wayne building. This preceded the private bank of Chapman & Sisson. Judge Sisson lived on our street. He was quite wealthy. His law office stood on Water street about where our present block stands. There was quite a row of lawyers' one-story offices on Water street at the time."
