To Mrs. John Birdsall
in Unadilla
Living in the County of Steuben, Town of Reading
July the 14, 1811

Dear Brother and Sister: We take this opportunity to let you know that we and our family are well, through Goodness, and I hope these few lines will find you in the same state of health. We should be very glad to see you, but I don't expect to 'till next winter, then I shall come out if nothing happens, and should be very glad if you would come and see us. I don't think but what you would like the country very well. The land is most excellent for wheat, and every other kind of spring crops look, I think, the most promising of any place I was ever in. I wish you would give my respects to Naham Smith and his wife. Tell Margaret that her Aunt Sally wants to hear from her very much to know how the health of all is. Sally has not been more healthy this number of years. Sally has got another son, five weeks old this 14th day of July.
This from your brother and sister.

                       Giles Sisson
                        Sally Sisson

Louie Dean White wrote a family record in 1903 stating:
The graves of Giles Sisson and his wife Sarah Potter Sisson, his son Henry Sisson and his daughter Chloe Sisson (Mathews) are all to be found (so I am told by Mr. Chas C. Mathews of Washington DC) in an old cemetery called Roush Cemetery one half mile back from where the home of Geo. W. Putnam stood, which was 13 mile above Gallipolis, Gallia Co., Ohio. Mr Matthews writes: "My grandfather Timothy Smith lived 1/2 mile above the Putnam place at the mouth of Silver River where he had a (tread) mill for griding corn. My mother Polly Smith was born there in 1812. She told me she could remember Henry Sisson and pointed out the hill where he was killed by a tree falling on him. She also pointed out the Putnam graves on the Putnam farm."

Inscribed on one stone is: "In memory of Sarah Sisson wife of Giles Sisson, born Apr. 7, 1774 in Dutchess Co. N.Y." On the other stone is "Henry Sisson d. Jan 10, 1827, aged 30 years 9 mo. 3 da." The gravestones of Henry Sisson and Sarah Potter Sisson were removed in 1904 to Lot 17 in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Gallia CO., Ohio, in private burying grounds of G. W. Putnam.

He affirms that Mary was buried in Roush Cemetery. What we have is probably a maiden name and a married name. Death date received from Asa Gage .

Wright married (MRIN:552) Dorcas BARTLETTE-831. Dorcas was born about 1785.

According to The Sisson Newsletter, v 10 #5 p 13, "It appears probable that [James Wright Sisson, born 1820] is a son of Wright (1784) and Dorcas (Bartlett [v 3 #2]). Mother "Dorcus" was in his household in 1875. Our information, however, shows that Wright had sons Joshua, George, Jabez, John, Joseph, Ephraditus, and Russell -- no James by that name. Early information indicated Joseph and Russell might be twins; later it was determined they were not. We wonder, could the abbreviations for Joseph (Jos.) and for James (Jas.) have been misunderstood somewhere? The birthdate Olive Cornell has substantiated for James is definite, September 18, 1820. Our small amount of information on Joseph is not conclusive [see v 3 #2]. The wife of James was Lany Marie Ostrander."

They had the following children.
