Lyle "Red" Charles Sisson graduated from White Pigeon High School in White Pigeon, Michigan. As a young man he played basketball, baseball, football (state all-star), and the violin on Station WOWO in Ft Wayne, Indiana. He worked 20 years at the Mac Sim Bar Mill; 15 years at the Hamilton Paper Company, then at Imperial Carving of Allegan, Michigan. He retired in 1980. Lyle was an Elk, member of the First Congregational Church, and active in Otsego, Michigan, civil affairs.
