Howard served in WWII in the US Army, 393rd Engineers, joining on 13 Feb 1943. He was in theater overseas until 8 Mar 1946 and discharged 16 Mar 1946. He had served in Central and Northern Burma campaigns. Howard became superintendent of schools in Brainard, MN. He enjoyed people and fishing.
