Harry was at one time editor of the Connecticut Western News of Canaan, CT. He graduated from the now defunct New Marlborough Academy where he walked 5 miles back and forth each day to complete his education. He began his business career in 1882 in Pittsfield, MA, with the Kellogg Shoe Co. He was an agent of the Berkshire Life Insurance Co. for a number of years before opening his first business venture known as the Sisson/Robinson Co manufacturing paper boxes. He was tax collector for the City of Pittsfield from 1892-1894, tax assessor from 1896-1900, and mayor of Pittsfield from 1902 to 1904. Declining a third term, he began the Sisson Buick Co. in 1904 and for 30 years handled various makes of cars such as Stevens-Duryea, Pierce Arrow, Pope-Hartford, and Buick. His first Buick was the 1907 model that had two cylinders and a starter crank on the side.

Mr. Sisson's summer home in Mill River, MA, is on the site of the first sawmill built in the Town of New Marlborough in 1741. It was acquired in 1855 by Mr. Sisson's grandfather, Henry, and has been in the family ever since. In 1927 Mr. and Mrs. Sisson built Dam Site, a summer retreat, using materials from the old mill as a source of lumber. Dam Site remains to this day being occupied by a Sisson.
