Dates and places of William Henry Sisson are given as per the Sisson family Bible. 1850 Federal Census, Wayne Co., NY, p. 454, Lyons. "In the old Centre building Mr. [William Henry] Sisson carried on the drug business in company with Dr. Sanford. Afterwards Mr. Sisson moved into the building at the southeast corner of Broad and Water streets, which burned down several years after his death, where he continued the drug business to the time he died. He was a Colonel in the militia of his time, when "training day" was generally observed as a holiday, and he was prominent in the Mason order, as was also his father." William Henry Sisson was the Democratic nominee for Wayne County treasurer, according to the 7 Oct 1854 Rochester D.U. Newspaper, page 2, column 4. A note in the papers of William Sisson, Mary Ella's grandfather, is probably a near-contemporary record of her birth and death. He notes that she was born 21 May 1848 and died June 11, 1854. Her gravestone gives the dates as May 21, 1848, and May 28, 1852. Her baptismal record at the Lyons Presbyterian Church is dated 10 June 1854, which we now see was the day before her death.

The headstone of Drurietta Clara Hillman reads: "Death claimed the lovely flower/Nor spared the tender bud./ Oh Tombstone of Italy/ Thou hast engraved upon thy sculptured marble/the name and age of her chaste immaculate spirit/ and recalled virtuous and nobel soul were the joy of him whose heart is left desolate./ Cherub of beauty and flower of innocence, last ray of hope of thy heart stricken father -- thou didst take thy flight with all thy loveliness whilst thy blessed mother was in heaven, thy father far from thee, but the kind father of thy dear departed mother paid with an agonized heart, see that thy obsequies were properly performed."

3680. George Elisha SISSON-480 (William , Elisha , Nathan , William , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born on 2 Apr 1820 in Lyons, Wayne Co., New York. He died on 25 Mar 1884 in Lyons, Wayne Co., New York.

George Elisha Sisson was a farmer. The 1850 census shows two others in the house: Albertino Parke, age 22, and George Steward, age 16, farmers. George and Louisa are both buried in the Lyons Rural Cemetery, west of his father. The Lyons Republican of March 27, 1884, said: "Death of George E. Sisson: A fortnight since our townsman Geo. E. Sisson suffered a stroke of paralysis, involving his right side. A few days later his friends were pleased to hear of his partial and perhaps entire recovery. A little later however, discouraging symptoms appeared, and the case was considered a very critical one; and last week it was generally known among Mr. Sisson's friends that his death was only matter of a few days. The announcement, therefore, of his death on Tuesday evening was not a surprise, much as it was regretted. Mr. Sisson was a resident of Lyons during his whole life, and had an unusually large circle of acquaintances in this vicinity. He was the oldest son [surviving] of Judge Wm. Sisson of Lyons, and was born April, 1820. He was a quiet, unobtrusive man, honest in his dealings, made friends very easily and enjoyed the respect of all our citizens. About two years ago he lost his wife, to whom he was fondly attached, and whose memory he cherished with especial devotion. Her death was a blow from which he never seemed fully to recover. He leaves two married daughters and three grandchildren to mourn his death. He age was 63 years, 11 months and 25 days."

Sisson was duly commissioned as 1st Lieutenant of said company on September 10, 1861, that Sisson resigned said commission on January 5, 1862, that from September 10 to October 17, 1861, Sisson received no pay, and that Sisson was told by the Paymaster that he could not draw pay for said time from the United States on the ground of the company not being full, and that he would have to look to the State of Ohio for said pay.
