Benjamin served two years in the 38th Regiment of Illinois, Volunteer Infantry as a fifer. He was transferred to the Signal Corps and did duty under General McDowell for 12 months, the remainder of his term of enlistment. He probably married Cynthia in Mason, Illinois, where they lived.

Joseph was a schoolteacher. Joseph's and Amanda's two sons and three daughters (names unknown except for Amanda and George) were mostly teachers also.

3388. Samuel T. SISSON-5626 (John , John , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born on 13 Apr 1840. He died on 12 Dec 1927 in Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas. He was buried in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Plot 35-4-25.

Samuel was a Civil War veteran and suffered from rheumatoid arthritis in his old age. During the summer months he would stay with relatives near Harveyville, KS, including his cousin James Jones Sisson. During the winter months he would live in the soldiers' home at Leavenworth. It is told that he always dreaded returning to Leavenworth to the home.

Company I, 1st Cavalry Regiment Iowa.

Samuel wrote this statement in 1910 in Wyoming:

"Upon oath and says  In 1850 I was living in Aberdean, Indiana and  then went to Iowa ..................enlisted in June the 13th, 1861 and at the time was 21 as I supposed. I went to Iowa with the folks that told me I was 18  years old at the time.....My Mother and Father are living in Switzerland Co.Ind. at the time they was Burnt out and lost every thing and after that I was given to a man by the name of Wallace Mead. One of my sisters told me I was born in 1840.......I can't state something I don't know about and to this I take my oath.

Mark Sisson, 83 Olentangy St, Columbus, Ohio 43202, says that the brothers "Saunders" and Levi served in the Union Army during the Civil War and afterwards settled in Minnesota. John Conway, Box 155, Alexandria, South Dakota 57311, is a descendant of Levi. He can also be reached through a friend at . Levi and Elisha and their families are buried in the cemetery at Armour, Douglas County, SD.

Levi married (MRIN:2738) Emily HUTTON-7592. Emily was born on 22 Jul 1837. She died on 5 May 1907.

Emily is buried in Armour, Douglas County, South Dakota.

Possibly Company E, 174th Infantry Regiment Ohio.

Elisha married (MRIN:10208) Lutetia CHAMBERLAIN-27576. Lutetia was born in 1850. She died in Sep 1879 in Swan Lake, Turner Co., South Dakota.

Lutetia died of blood poisoning.
