There are identity thieves out there who look on many kinds of web sites for people's birthdates and their mother's maiden names. Such thieves can use that information to run up charges on the victims' credit cards or other possessions.

So I have my genealogical software set to report as "Living" any person who has no reported date of death and whose birth occured less than 110 years ago or whose marriage took place less than 75 years ago.
