Notes for WILLIAM JOSEPH ELKINS:

William Joseph Elkins ran a little general store in Chandler Springs. In the back of the store he had a grist mill where he ground corn to make meal for people.

One day while he was grinding some corn for someone he had a stroke and fell over in the trough. It paralized him in his throat and made him unable to eat. Emma (his Wife) feed him spoonful of soup or water ,was all he could take at a time. He litteraly starved to death in 30 days after the stroke.

8. WILLIAM ALBERT HOLLINGSWORTH3 ELKINS (WILLIAM JOSEPH2, ENOCH1) was born January 24, 1904 in Talladega County, and died April 04, 1980 in Talladega, Al Buried Midway Memorial Gardens. He married MILDRED ELIZEBETH MCELWEE September 12, 1931 in Chandler Springs.

Marriage Notes for WILLIAM ELKINS and MILDRED MCELWEE:

Mildred and Albert met at a wiener roast in Chandler Springs (Talladega County, Al) She was a young age of 15. When they decided to get married, Albert bought Milderd a dress to wear. It was black with yellow polka dots!! She said the dress was pretty but not one to marry in; but she would not hurt his feelings and wore it anyway. They walked about 5 miles to Preacher Wheelers house to get married. George and Ben Wheeler were there witnessess. They stayed married untill Alberts death 1980.. ( UNTILL DEATH DO US PART )
