These statistics represent the entire Cutlip Connection database collection which is currently (06-Jan-2001) accessible as GEDCOM and via WorldConnect. This database is constantly being updated. But, at some point one has to stop tinkering and present the friuts of research to others. We have decided to present an annual major release (update) of this database on CD-ROM -- about 15-Nov each year, so you will have it to show (or give) to relatives during the yearend season. During the year we will refine and expand it: Especially through collaboration on the (email) Cutlip Discussion Group. Please, join us!

To non-Cutlip researchers, the "in-laws" may actually be of more interest than the Cutlips, themselves. Be warned that some of the data presented here have been superseded by more accurate information and much expansion has been done. An attempt is underway to provide info on the parents and grandparents (and in some instances even further back) of Cutlip mates. Many siblings of Cutlip mates are also included. As of 06-Jan-2001, the number exceeds 6,200 -- all are in the online database. Don't just look and leave. Send an email; ask a question; get what you want!

For the past year, an average of more than 32 names have been added to the database everyday -- "24/7" as they say. Thousands of corrections have been made ... many very small, such as spelling, date changes, or even capitalization. Nevertheless, no matter how small, each one takes a certain amount of time. Collectively, all this input and correction time adds up to hundreds of hours (not counting actual "research" time). Still, I suspect, only about half (maybe a little more) of Cutlip descendants are listed here (the easy half!).

Many people have contributed GEDCOM files (if you have not, please do now). These files contained (no exaggeration) thousands of notes and sources formatted in several different ways. Sometimes two, three, or even four different people had notes on the same person. I've spent what time I could for the last six months trying to hammer these notes into a coherent system and to cull out redundancy. Many are still not presentable; nevertheless you will find them appended to the individuals to whom they pertain.

Mr. James L. Ball ("Lewis" to those in the Cutlip Discussion Group) spent many hours typing in the data researched and assembled by George Lester Cutlip and Ancil B. Cutlip for their book, The Cutlips of Cutlips Fork of Little Otter, Braxton County, West Virginia.
Mr. E.H. Bright ("Harold") poured over mountains of books checking and rechecking numbers, spellings, an so on. He has made uncounted trips to various West Virginia County Seats to look at original documents.
Ms. Lois Lambert has traveled, researched, recorded, and analyzed Cutlip origins and early history as much (or more than) anyone else.
Ms. Suzanne Bias has entered data, typed notes, entered data, cross-checked data, recorded discrepancies, and entered more data -- most notably, data researched and compiled by Keith Butcher for his book, The Descendants of Haymond George Cutlip. I have spent many hours entering this material, myself, and I have not spent nearly the time she has.

Were I to name everyone who specialized in certain geographic areas (Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregon) the list would become very long. (Please, God, grant me the time to expand this list of acknowledgments in the near future. You know that without the participation of so many in the Cutlip Discussion Group, this project would never have reached this point.) -- Rod Bias.
