Henry Jackson Bissey was born on September 6, 1833 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His parents were Jonas and Rachel (Hartman) Bissey. Henry Jackson was married twice. However, the first marriage, which was to Mary Adah Stanford, ended upon the death of Mary on August 20, 1860. Henry Jackson and Mary had only been married since February 2, 1860. Mary had been born on April 25, 1840.

Eliza Long (thought to be Eliza Jane Long) was born May 19, 1843 in Clay County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Rosamond and Hannah (Stanford) Long.

Henry and Eliza were married on March 6, 1862 in Clay City, Illinois. They had eleven known children:

Henry died on October 23, 1919 in Clay County, Illinois. He is buried in the Forster Hill (Mt. Zion) U.B. cemetery, Stanford Township, which is located just west of Clay City, Ilinois. His tombstone reads:

"Bissey, Henry J. - Sept. 6, 1833-Oct. 23, 1919"

Eliza died on December 3, 1924 in Clay County, Illinois. She is also buried in the Forster Hill (Mt. Zion) U.B. cemetery. Her tombstone reads:

"Bissey, Eliza J.-May 19, 1843-Dec 3, 1924"
