I Hamilton T.1 BARTLETT being of sound disposing mind make this my last Will and Testament, 1. Mr. James B. HUIE is to give to my wife Caroline two thousand dollars and the proceeds of my part of the concern at the time of settlement, in addition to the said two thousand dollars, 2. I give to my wife the proceeds of a note for three hundred Dollars which I hold against Dr. Joseph H. HOLT of Natchez the said note being for cash he borrowed of me, 3. I give to my sister Saphronia A. BROWN a tract of land in the republic of Texas, described in a paper bearing date of 31 Dec 1836, Signed by Col. Chas. HARRISON and witnessed by James HARRISON & Warren G. RAYNOR ~ 4. I give to the said Saphronia the proceeds of a note drawn by A. W. NAYLOR for two thousand and Ninety two dollars, dated Paducah June 4th 1836, Said Note Now being in the hands of WHEATLY & TRIZVAIZT of Memphis ~ 5. I give to the said Saphronia the ballance due me by Woolson CUTTER & Co. of Louisville for merchandize as by bill dated April 29th 1837, 6th. I give to my wife the proceeds of the debts due me by persons whose names follows, viz ~ John FRENCH $3, Mrs. Mary LACK $4.09, Mrs. BERRY $4.35, Mrs. DICKINS $10.68, Mrs. W. R. MARTIN $2.37, Mrs. RIEMER $0.50, Mr. SUCKEY $3.49, Mr. BARNET $2.00, Mr. LOVELADY $2.87, Steamboat Concord $15.75, Mrs. ZAPP $4.25, Joseph MITTEN $19.00, the above accounts to be collected and the proceeds given to my wife, 7. I wish the following Notes and accounts collected and the proceeds given to my wife, viz, Note of W. MILLER for $98.75, dated Dec 28 1836, due bill of John B. SHEPERD for $23, dated July 19th 1837, note of S. WINGATE Jr. for $25, dated July 22nd 1836, note of M. S. FAGAN for $12, dated April 28th 1837, note of W. O. HOLLOWEL for $3, balance of note of Jacob FREEBORN & son dated June 4th 1836, also account against W. MILLER for $34.19, dated Nov. 15th 1837 ~ 8. My demand against Shrader Merchant of Hawesville KY for two hundred dollars more or less on account or accounts now in the hands of an officer at Providence amounting to three hundred dollars more or less are to be collected and the proceeds given to my wife, 9. All the remainder of my estate real and personal &c &c to be given to my wife ~ Given under my hand and seal at Louisville Kentucky this 16th day of Feby 1838. In presence of ~

         At a County Court held for Jefferson County at the Court House in the City of Louisville on the fifth day of March one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight, The within and foregoing instrument of writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Hamilton P. BARTLETT decd late of this County was produced in Court and proved by the oaths of Edward P. HUMPHREY and Benjamin H. HALL, Subscribing witnesses thereto and thereupon the same was established by the Court to be the last Will and Testament of the said Hamilton P. BARTLETT and ordered to be recorded and is recorded and on the motion of Caroline BARTLETT the Widow of the said Hamilton who made oath according to law administration with the will annexed of the estate of said BARTLETT is granted her whereupon she gave bond with Walker R. CARTER and Benjamin H. HALL her securities in the penalty of eight thousand dollars conditioned according to law.
