This is a meager attempt to compile a list of at least some of the Bartletts who immigrated to America, including some of the surname variations and pertinent other surnames associated in some way with the Bartletts. They have been sorted BY DATE. There are repetitions of some of the names due to their being referenced in more than one source. This list is far from complete and obviously does not contain all of the Bartletts/Berkleys/Berkeleys, Bartleys, etc. who immigrated, but perhaps will help with a few of the very early arrivals. Keep in mind that some of the people listed, especially those in the later years, may not have necessarily been immigrants, but simply passengers travelling one way or the other. ---Sandra G. The columns show the name of the passenger, his/her age, the place of arrival and year of arrival. The numbers [2] or [3] in the remarks column mean that person�s name is listed in more than one book. Some lists note the passenger was accompanied by other persons. If that was indicated, it will be in the "Remarks" column.

2. Gammon, Rev. William J. Emigrants To Bath County, North Carolina, 1695-1702, (Jackson, MO: n.pub., 1916).
A list of immigrants, brought to Bath County, North Carolina, for which land was granted to the person bringing them, or inducing them to come. These lists of immigrants and claimants who received land were copied in 1916 from an old deed book in Craven Co., N.C. by Rev. Wm. J. Gammon, then of Louisville, KY.

An Index to names of immigrants compiled from Records of Land Patents, 1633-1680 in the Hall of Records, Annapolis, Maryland. The Land Patent books' volume and page numbers are included.

4. Greer, George Cabel. Early Virginia Immigrants 1623-1666. (Richmond, VA: W. C. Hill Printing Co., 1912).
Compiled from land records housed in Richmond, VA, the author gives the name of the immigrant, the county to which they first immigrated, and the name of the person who sponsored them.

5. Coldham, Peter Wilson. The Complete Book of Emigrants in Bondage. (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1988).
Individuals convicted of various crimes in Great Britain and whose sentence was transportation to America, in some cases the prisoner being reprieved from execution in exchange for transport. The author has compiled this information from numerous primary sources, and only the minimum information has been used here. You can find this book in your local library.
Abbreviations and information: sent. - sentenced to transportation; trans. - transported; rprv. - reprieved for transportation; and, the offense and date sentenced or transported if known, the ship if known, the destination, and the county in which sentenced.
Notes: If a specific state in America is not shown, I've just shown "America".
* Date of actual transport not shown.
** I'm not certain if he also went by the given names of James & John, or if his alias was John JAMES, but believe it to be the latter given the manner in which the author presented the other aliases.
