Ruth Kistler. Looking for BARTLETTs in Middlesex, Ontario, Canada.

My Grandfather was Isiah Raymond BARTLETT, born 8/3/1888 in Pierre South Dakota. He married Ruth "Mimi" HARDY.

His father was Harmony BARTLETT, who was born on 12/8/1852 in Mosa, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. Harmony married Phoebe Jane Alison KETCHESON in 1875 and sometime between 1882 and 1888, they moved to South Dakota.

His father was Isaac Root BARTLETT, born on 1/9/1823 also in Mosa, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. Isaac married Anne BEDFORD.

Isaac's father was Dr. Lemuel BARTLETT, born in 1787. LDS has him born in Westminister, Middlesex Canada but we suspect he may have been born in the US (maybe New York). Dr. Lemuel married Esperance (Experience) ROOT (1871 Ontario census lists her as a weaver, born in the US).

Here is where our research ended until lately. A ROOT researcher told us that Lemuel BARTLETT's father was Jacob BARTLETT of New York and New Hampshire. Jacob's father is Joshua BARTLETT of New Hampshire. His father is also Joshua of Massachusetts. This line goes back to Richard the immigrant. Can anyone verify whether this information is correct? Thank you. [bkistler(AT)email.uspsDOTgov] (8/01)

Ray Bartlett. Seeking information concerning Daniel BARTLETT, who was born ca. 1828 in MS and migrated to Jackson Parish, LA, where he was staying with the Larkin TURNER family in the 1850 Jackson Parish census.

In the 1860 Jackson Parish census, Daniel is married to Termela (28 yrs) of AL and they have four children: Elizabeth--7 yrs; Nancy A.--6 yrs; William T. L.--4 yrs; and Randall W.--1 yr; all of whom were born in LA.

Daniel was the grandfather of my paternal great-grandmother, Annie Belle BARTLETT (b. Feb. 1885), daughter of William T. L. BARTLETT, mentioned earlier (1860).

Any help would be appreciated and would be glad to share information in my possession with other family members. Thanks in advance and please contact me at: rbartlet(AT)bellsouthDOTnet. (5/01)

Ray Bartlett. Seeking information concerning the names of the parents of William W. BARTLETT, born in Wilkinson Co., MS in 1823 and died in Bienville Parish in 1905. His family has been placed on the Orphans Page, if you think you may have a connection. It is possible that his parents died when he was a young man, but have no proof. I cannot find him in ANY census in LA in 1830, 1840, 1850. He first appears in a LA census in 1860 in Jackson Parish. Any help will be appreciated and am willing to share family history with other branches of the family. Thanks. [rbartlet(AT)bellsouthDOTnet] (9/00)

Liz Sanders. Searching for parents of WILLIS BARTLETT, b. ca. 09/1836 in Columbia, GA. Married twice, once to MARY ANNE DEVILLE in Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana in 1861. Then married SARAH JANE MONTPELIER DEBROCK in Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana in 1866. Sarah Jane was the widow of Civil War soldier, Foster DEBROCK, and had two children from this union, Susan Rebecca and Adrian. Susan Rebecca later married THOMAS JEFFERSON BARTLETT in Louisiana and they migrated to Bend, Texas in late 1800s. Susan and Jeff had son Gip, who died young, and daughters SELENA QUEEN BARTLETT, and LUCY TOLITHA BARTLETT. I believe TJs mother was a JUDITH BARTLETT. Willis and Sarah also migrated to Texas, somewhere on the Colorado River near Waco. They had the follow issue: Mollie (married Robert BROWNLEE), Bulah, Alice, Johnny, Burl, Willis, Melissa, JOE GUS ( my ancestor), Jim, and Lena. Family notes say parent of Willis is a BURL BUCKSTON BARTLETT, but not proven. Thanks. [formy4(AT)airmailDOTnet] (7/00)

Patricia Terry. Searching for STEPHEN B. BLACKWELL'S middle name. Could the "B" stand for BARTLETT since his mother was MARTHA BARTLETT BLACKWELL? I show STEPHEN "STEVE" BLACKWELL born 12 July 1856 (tombstone- death certificate says ? July 1852) in Monroe County, Alabama (death certificate). Steve married MARY EMMA BOUTWELL (called "Emma") 27 March 1879 in Conecuh County, Alabama (marriage certificate). STEVE BLACKWELL died 16 December 1937 (death certificate- tombstone says 18 December 1937). I show he died at Bellville, Alabama in Conecuh County (death certificate). I show STEVE BLACKWELL'S wife MARY EMMA BOUTWELL born 4 August 1861 at Milton in Holmes County, Florida. She was the daughter of WILLIAM D. BOUTWELL and SARAH BOUTWELL.
