MRS. BARTLETT, 77 YEARS OLD, DIES IN HOSPITAL

Mrs. Anne Ferguson BARTLETT, 77 years old, died at 1:10 o'clock Sunday morning at St. John's hospital, after an illness of several months.
She was born December 4, 1875, in Joplin, and made her home at the Mayflower apartments after her return here from Kansas City in 1940.
She was the daughter of the late Bernard FERGUSON and Mrs. Wesley HILLIKER of Carl Junction, who preceeded her in death in 1943.
She was the widow of Major Charles W. BARTLETT, formerly connected with the old Miners Bank here until 1910, when they moved to Kansas City, where he was president and owner of the Kaw River Sand Company until he died in 1934.
They were married in Joplin May 9, 1894 [md. Topeka, KS].
It was through the personal invitation of Major and Mrs. BARTLETT that Marshall FOCH of France and Admiral BEATTY of Great Britain and other distinguished visitors were brought to the first convention of the American Legion, held in Kansas City in 1921.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Al COLLINS of Scarsborough, N. Y. [prob. Scarsdale]; a son, Spencer F. BARTLETT of Evanston, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Madelon CAUFMAN of Joplin; a nephew John D. FERGUSON of Joplin, and a great-grandson, Charles BARTLETT COLLINS of Cleveland, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning in the Thornhill-Dillon chapel. The Rev. Dr. Otto C. SEYMOUR will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery. The family has requested that no flowers be sent.
Friends may call at the funeral home until the funeral hour.
