Various Crosslins, Bailey Bible Transcript, 1799-1862, Coffee County

J.R. Bailey,
Bible Transcript, 1799-1862, Coffee County
1

Contributed by: Bob Bailey

This is a transcription of diary records found in the Bible of Mr. John R. Bailey of Coffee County, Tennessee.  Mr. Bailey's Bible was published c1830.  The diary entries record family and neighbor (including Crosslin) births, marriages and deaths and other details from the 1799-1862 era.

Contributor notes: The spelling is as noted.  Where the handwriting could not be deciphered, ??? are shown.  The handwriting is faded and in some cases almost impossible to read given unusual spelling.  References to Jule (Julie?) and Ephraim were to slaves connected to the John R. Bailey family.  This family is found in 1870 census living next to the Bailey farm house.  Believe the information given on Page 3 (below) was by Harrison Bailey, the son of John R. Bailey after he took over the farm.  Most of the notes were made by John R. Bailey himself.
