The State of Alabama, Marengo County
Know all by these presents That Edward C Croslin and Thomas Phillips are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency ___ Govenor of the State of Alabama and his successors in office in the Sum of one hundred Dollars to which payment will and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs executors administrators and assigns severally and jointly firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and hands this 11th day of February 1843.
The condition of the above obligation is such that if there be no legal cause to obstruct the marriage of Ed C Croslin and Elizabeth Hall for whom a license has this day been granted them be void else to remain in full force and virtue. Witness our hands and seals the day and year above written.

To any licensed Minister of the Gospel ___ of the Circuit or County Court or Justice of the Peace: You are hereby authorised to celebrate the Rites of Marriage between Ed C. Croslin and Elizabeth Hall and join them together in the Holy Bonds of Matrimony and for so doing this shall be your sufficient warrant.
