Patsy Briscoe was born 1 May 1807 in Virginia, the daughter of John M. Briscoe and his wife, who may have been a Horner. The family migrated to Nelson Co KY in the early 1800's. John M. Briscoe died in 1814, leaving a Nelson County will.

Patsy married 1) Fielding Bridwell 9 Sep 1824 in Spencer Co KY. Fielding died on their Bullitt Co KY farm in 1847, leaving Patsy with seven children. She married 2) Presley Jewell, whose first wife, Nancy Skinner, died before the 1850 census, leaving him with nine children. Patsy and Presley Jewell married 1 Oct 1850 Bullitt Co KY.

By September 1853, the two families had merged and migrated to the part of Henderson Co KY that is now Webster Co. In fact, Presley's daughter Emily Jewell married James Bridwell, Patsy's son on 29 Jan 1852 before the families left Bullitt Co.
