Tragically, 17-year-old Emily Jewell Bridwell died in childbirth 1 Oct 1853. James Bridwell remarried 18 Jun 1854, Ann Eliza Thornberry, in Henderson Co. James and Liza had fifteen children and were married for forty-seven years when he died in 1901. In one of those decisions that baffle family historians many years later, Ann Eliza buried James with his young bride of forty-eight years before, Emily Jewell Bridwell at Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole. When Ann Eliza died in 1918, she was buried at Watson-Thornberry Cemetery in Henderson Co.
