We know little about Arthur and Ethel Riggs.

Louise Fleming's book "Heyday of Onton", p. 169 states "Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Riggs were consistent members of Sassafras Grove Methodist Church and could always be found there every 'preaching day'", but we do not know if that refers to this Arthur Riggs or perhaps his parents.

In the 1910 Webster County KY census listing in Onton, household #136/136, we found Arthur Riggs, age 12 and Ethel Riggs, age 10, living as grandchildren in the household of Harrison Pinkston, age 69, who was a farmer born in TN. Harrison Pinkston's wife is Ellen, age 67, who has been married for forty-six years and has had 7/3 children. Living with Harrison and Ellen Pinkston is their daughter Ollie Riggs, age 43 and a widow who has had 3/3 children.

Harrison Pinkston married Ellen F. Hall, 1864. (Webster Co KY Marriage Bk 1, p 411). Ellen Hall was the daughter of Frederick Dandridge Hall and Mahala Hardin.
