Charles C Knight arrived Whiteside Co. about 1839 & this death occurred well before his marriage to Julia Ann Hollinshead. This is very likely another son of George W Knight that did not live long enough to get into the record book.      Sarah Smock and Abraham Smock were were twins on 4 January 1844. Sarah Smock was born on 8 January 1844 at Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky.      William Rush was Notes for William Rush:Was a Revolutionary War soldier. He married in New Jersey, his wife died shortly after. He supposedly never remarried, but a grandson Matthias Rush (born on October 4, 1814) writes about him and his military record later. He moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania. The following affidavit was filed on March 1823 by Michael Rush, William Rush's brother, supporting William's application for a pension from the Revolutionary War. (Special thanks to Luther Olson, Lyndhurst, Ohio for this information taken from his website on the Internet February 4, 1997.): 'I am the elder brother of William Rush who has subscribed and sworn to the annexed declaration in order to obtain a pension, and am now about eighty-nine years old. During the whole of the Revolutionary War, the said William Rush lived or boarded with me. I was at the time married and keeping house in Morris County, New Jersey, and he was an unmarried man. To my personal knowledge he was in the service of the United States during a part of every year from September 1776, to the termination of said war. The whole military force of New Jersey was divided into two Classes - - one of which went out one month and then the other one month and so on alternately throughout the whole Revolutionary struggle. My brother, William, belonged to one of these classes and was always prompt to go whenever his country demanded his services. I know that my brother on all occasions when he was out was under the command of Gen. William Wines - - Colonel's Stark, Luce, Drake, and Seeley; also held commands in the militia of Moris County, New Jersey. My brother belonged to a company commanded by Capt. Nathanial Horton, in which company he was an orderly sargeant for several tours. I also served two months and a half in the same company and under the same officers. I know also that the said William was out as a substitute one and a half months in the Revolution, viz: one-half month for myself and one month for our brother, Jacob Rush. I know also that this applicant has served all seasons of the year - - summer-winter and fall, yet although I have a good recollection for a man of my age, I cannot pretend to designate the particular months in which he served in any one year, yet I well know that he was out several months of each of the years 1777, 1778, 1779, 1781, 1782, 1783 and also I know that he served for one if not two months in the autumn of 1776, when the British had posession of New York City. To the best of my knowledge and belief I would have no hesitancy in saying as a volunteer, a drafted militiaman and substitute, all inclusive, William Rush served from three to four months in each and every of the years I have designated, except 1776, when I believe he was out only one or two months. I recollect this claimant once told me immediately after he returned from a winter campaign, that he had been at Elizabethtown and Amboy and that the detachment had had a skirmish in which they had captured a cart and load of clothing and a yoke of oxen and a horse, and that he had been cheated out of his share of the plunder, I now recollect many things he told me in these times which he has forgotten. His memory is almost entirely failed and his mind is also fast failing. I suppose the reason why I cannot now recollect the paticular times and months he was in the service, results from this, that he was out so often, in so many different years, and only for a month at once - - the matters have become so confused in my head that although I recollect the general circumstances, I cannot now descend to particulars. I believe that William Rush served at least three tours of one month each as orderly sargeant, besides losing much time when he was not out in the service, mustering and drilling the Company. Abraham Smock was the son of John Abraham Smock and Elizabeth Bradshaw. Abraham Smock died on 18 June 1844 at Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky, at age 5 months and 14 days. Abraham Smock was buried in the Smock Family Cemetery on Hardy Pike, Mercer County, Kentucky.

     Also called Joost Scamp. Also called George N. Scamp Per the 1840 Pensioner Record.³ Also called Scomp. Pvt. George N. Schamp was baptized on 10 November 1751 at the North Branch Reformed Dutch Church, Readington, Somerset County, New Jersey.^4,2,5 The 2nd son, but named after his father's father, a variation on Dutch tradition. He was the son of Nicolaes Schamp and Antje Aten.² Pvt. George N. Schamp witnessed the will of Justis Schamp on 28 May 1760 at Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey; Just days before his death, Joost, described as "...weak of Body but sound of Mind and memory" made his last will and testament. Executed at his plantation in "the Township of Reading in the County of Hunterdon," Joost very carefully divided his vast land holdings among his surving children and grandchildren. By it his wife was given the use of the entire estate during her widowhood. At her death or previous to remarriage the estate was to be divided as follows: The two sons of his deceased eldest son George were to receive 1832 acres of the Somerset tract. Another 183 acres of this tract were to be given to the two sons of Nicholas. One hundred acres of this same tract were given to the children of his daughter Janneka, late wife of Dirck Marlet, to be divided among them. The rest was to be divided among his living heirs, both children and grandchildren. The Hunterdon tract was to be divided among the three remaining children. His daughter, Staunchy (aka Christine), wife of Jacobus Cocks, was given a parcel of 111 acres. Another 111 acres went to his daughter Hannah, of who marriage no trace has yet appeared, and the remainder, 278 acres, fell to his son Hendrick, this portion containing the homestead and appears to have been the choice heritage. The two sons of his son George, George and Peter, were to give their five sisters the sum of sixteen pounds each. Not forgotten, Anita, the daughter of Nicholas was to recieve from her brothers a dower equal to that of her five cousins combined, namely eighty pounds. Executors of the will were Hendrick Schomp, his friend George Reading, and his son-in-law Jacobus Cocks.⁶ Pvt. George N. Schamp served in the American Revolution as a private in the New Jersey troops circa 1776. He married Maria Smock, daughter of Private John Smock Sr. and Sara Fonteyn, on 5 February 1779 at the Dutch Reformed Church, Conewago Colony, York County, Pennsylvania; Married by the Rev. Cornelius Cozine.⁷ Pvt. George N. Schamp was asked to release the land of his late brother, Adrian, on 19 March 1787 at Hillsborough Township, Somerset County, New Jersey. "This is to certify whom it may concern that on the 19 day of March, 1787, the Executors of Adrian Schomp, deceased, did request of Jost Schomp, brother of said Adrian, to release the land according to the word brought in by the administrators, which he refused before." Signed by Jeromis Waldron, Harman Van Deripe, John Low.⁸

"THIS is to certify, that my wife Mary Schamp has eloped from my bed and board unknown to me, and has taken all my children with her, namely, Peter, Anne, John, Henry and Sarah, without any just cause or provocation. These are therefore to forwarn all persons from trusting or harbouring of her, or any of them upon my account, as I am fully determined to pay no debts of her contracting from the day of the date hereof. But let her return home with what she took away, in a short time, or a few days. GEORGE N. SCHAMP." He appeared in a Revolutionary War Pensioners listing, age 89, on 1 June 1840 at Hillsborough Township, Somerset County, New Jersey.³ He was a veteran of the American Revolution.⁵ He died on 17 September 1844 at age 92 years, 10 months and 7 days.

     Elizabeth Bradshaw was born on 16 November 1808. She was the daughter of N. N. Bradshaw. Elizabeth Bradshaw married John Abraham Smock, son of Abraham Smock and Mary Stagg, circa 1830. As of circa 1830,her married name was Smock. Elizabeth Bradshaw died on 14 November 1844 at Mercer County, Kentucky, at age 35 years, 11 months and 29 days. Elizabeth Bradshaw was buried in the Smock Family Cemetery on Hardy Pike, Mercer County, Kentucky.

     William Haines was born on 17 April 1768 at Rancocas, Burlington County, New Jersey. He was the son of Samuel Haines Jr. and Elizabeth Busby. William Haines married Mary Eayre in 1793 at New Jersey. William Haines died on 20 November 1844 at King Twp, York, Ontario, Canada, at age 76 years, 7 months and 3 days. William Haines was buried in the Anglican Cemetery, Collingwood, Ontario, Canada.

     Maria Van Schaack was born in 1773. She was the daughter of Cornelius Van Schaack Jr. and Angeltje Yates. Maria Van Schaack married Jacobus Roosevelt, son of Jacobus Roosevelt and Annetje Bogert, on 8 March 1793. Maria Van Schaack died on 3 February 1845 at age 72 years.

He married Mary Haines, daughter of Samuel Haines Jr. and Elizabeth Busby, on 15 July 1789 at the Ancocas Meeting House, Burlington County, New Jersey; Marriage recorded by the Burlington Monthly Meeting.^1,3 Jacob Hollinshead Jr. was a Hatter by trade. John Smock married Anne Gray on 1 June 1809 at Mercer County, Kentucky.¹ John Smock was a witness where Barnes Smock and Antje Cozine sold land to their son John "for five shillings, love and affection" on 4 April 1812 at Mercer County, Kentucky.      Henry W. Daniel was born circa 1800 at Norfolk, England. He immigrated to Canada arriving circa 1815. He was a miller by profession. He married Lydia Hollinshead, daughter of Jacob Hollinshead Jr. and Mary Haines, in 1835 at Ontario, Canada. Henry W. Daniel relocated to Clyde Township, Whiteside County, Illinois, in 1838. He was Mill Wright 'Hugh Hollinshead, a millwright, and H. W. Daniels were engaged in erecting the concern. In connection with it was a grist mill or 'corn cracker,' which worked so slowly that it is said a man waiting for his grist could eat all but the toll while the grinding was being done. '
'The mill is now (1877) known as Brothwells.' After 1838 at Clyde Township, Whiteside County, Illinois.³ He died in 1848 at Houghton, Iowa. He worked as a miller till his death. Henry W. Daniel was buried in the Hollinshead Family Cemetery, Ustick Township, Whiteside County, Illinois.

     John Ryker was born on 18 January 1764 at New Jersey. He was the son of Gerardus Ryker Sr. and Rachel Demaree. John Ryker served in the Revolutionary War, enlisting first in Captain Bell's company and Colonel Heron's regiment, and later serving other enlistments between 1776 and 1782. He married Mary Van Cleve on 9 June 1784. John Ryker married Mrs. John Ryker on 2 July 1838; John's 2nd marriage. John Ryker left a will on 26 May 1847 at Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana. He died in 1848 at Indiana at age 83 years.

     Clarkson Van Nostrand was born circa 1788. He married Charity Ditmars, daughter of John Ditmars Jr. and Maria Smock, in 1807. Clarkson Van Nostrand died in 1848.

     John Lane was born after 1821. He was the son of Garret Lane and Catherine Hendrickson. John Lane died after 1848.

     Elizabeth Haines was born on 15 July 1780 at Rancocas, Burlington County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Samuel Haines Jr. and Elizabeth Busby. Elizabeth Haines died on 19 January 1848 at age 67 years, 6 months and 4 days.

     John Wood was born on 29 July 1785.¹ He married Eleanor Strong, daughter of Dr. Joseph Strong and Rebecca Young, on 13 March 1823 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Chillicothe, Ohio.¹ John Wood died on 29 January 1848 at Chillicothe, Ohio, at age 62 years and 6 months.¹

     Abraham Boerum was born in 1806 at Ovid, Seneca County, New York. He was the son of John Boerum and Elizabeth Hill. Abraham Boerum married Polly Davis on 29 November 1838 at Huron, Erie County, Ohio. Abraham Boerum died on 27 May 1848 at Buffalo, Erie County, New York, at age 42 years.

     Ludwig II, Großherzog von Hesse-Darmstadt was born on 26 December 1777 at Darmstadt, Germany.² He was the son of Ludwig I, Großherzog von Hesse-Darmstadt and Luise Henriette Karoline von Hessen-Darmstadt.^1,2 Ludwig II, Großherzog von Hesse-Darmstadt died on 16 June 1848 at Darmstadt, Germany, at age 70 years, 5 months and 21 days.²

     Garret Lane was born circa 1782. He was the son of Matthias Lane and Catherine Smock. Garret Lane married Catherine Hendrickson on 23 May 1803. Garret Lane died in September 1848.

     Julia Bullard was born on 30 June 1784.¹ She married Marvelous Thayer, son of Silas Thayer and Lydia Thayer, on 29 March 1810 at Bellingham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.² Julia Bullard died on 16 September 1848 at Bellingham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, at age 64 years, 2 months and 17 days. She died of "dropsey," aged 64 years, 2 months, 16 days, a widow.³

     Eliza Schamp was born on 23 November 1814 at Mercer County, Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of John Scomp and Docia Timmons.¹ Eliza Schamp was a witness where John Scomp removed to Knox County, Indiana, with his family circa 1828. Eliza Schamp died on 21 December 1848 at Knox County, Indiana, at age 34 years and 28 days.¹

     Lenah Hoffman was born circa 1755. She was the daughter of John Hoffman Sr. and Rebecca (?).¹ Lenah Hoffman married Col. David Schamp, son of Hendrick Schamp and Margrietje Cock, circa September 1772.¹ Lenah Hoffman died in 1849.

     Obed Thayer was born on 4 May 1799 at Richmond, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.¹ He was the son of Nathan Thayer Sr. and Sally Abbott.¹ Obed Thayer married Elizabeth Field in October 1829.¹

     Mary B. Rush accompanied her husband to Canada, and then to England where she remained.¹ She was born on 16 May 1784 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Doctor Benjamin Rush and Julia Stockton.¹ Mary B. Rush married Captain Thomas Manners on 29 December 1804 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.¹ Mary B. Rush died on 2 November 1849 at Rochester, Kent, England, at age 65 years, 5 months and 17 days.

     Isaac Pierce was born on 22 September 1763 at Rehoboth, Massachusetts.^1,2 He was the son of Reverend Nathan Pierce and Lydia Martin.¹ Isaac Pierce married Anna Fitch on 7 October 1782 at Rehoboth, Massachusetts.^1,2 Isaac Pierce died on 26 November 1849 at Rehoboth, Massachusetts, at age 86 years, 2 months and 4 days.^3,2

     Princess Adelaide Louisa Theresa Caroline Amelia of Saxe-Meiningen was born on 14 August 1792 at Meiningen, Germany.¹ She was the daughter of Reigning Duke George I of Saxe-Meiningen.¹ Princess Adelaide Louisa Theresa Caroline Amelia of Saxe-Meiningen married Wilhelm IV, König von Hannover und Großbritannien, son of Georg III, Kurfürst und König von Hannover, König von Großbritannien and Sophia Charlotte, Prinzessin von Mecklenburg-Strelitz, on 11 July 1818 at Kew Palace, England.¹ Princess Adelaide Louisa Theresa Caroline Amelia of Saxe-Meiningen died on 2 December 1849 at Sadbury Park, England, at age 57 years, 3 months and 18 days.¹ Princess Adelaide Louisa Theresa Caroline Amelia of Saxe-Meiningen was buried in Windsor, England.¹

     Joseph Rush was born circa 1785 at Virginia. He was the son of William Rush Jr.. Joseph Rush relocated to Mississippi before 1812. He served in the Mississippi Militia in 1812 at the War of 1812. He married Martha 'Patsy' Simmons in 1817 at Mississippi. Joseph Rush died before 1850.

     Her married name was Stalcup. Rebecca Osborn was born circa 1785 at Tennessee. She married Eli Stalcup, son of Private William Stalcop and Margareta Anderson, on 3 August 1808 at Sumner County, Tennessee; "David Graves and Wm. Roney signed."¹ Rebecca Osborn accompanied Eli Stalcup when Eli relocated before 1830 and came to reside in Highland Township, Greene County, Indiana.
