This is why [??] marriage in 1647. ----marriage in this -----[St.?] Catharine -----able----to give an attestation of -----this----you celebrated in marriage with Catherine Bally in the aforementioned church in the year 1647. ---I have always been ----- I am your very humble servant...... at [Honnechy]-----" on 25 March 1658 at Netherlands.³ He immigrated to New Amsterdam, Kings County, New York, arriving 17 May 1658; Arrived in America on "De Vergulde Bever" [The Gilded Beaver]. "Other French colonists, whose places of birth are not recorded, emigrated about this time to New Amsterdam, by way of Holland. We have the names of Charles Fonteyn, .... Though the fact is not expressly stated, it may be presumed that the greater number of these immigrants, like those previously named, originated in the provinces of Picardy, Normandy, and Bretagne."^8,7,9 He was was one of 14 frenchmen who petitioned for permission to settle on Long Island in Boswyck (Bushwick) on 16 February 1660/61.      William Jacobse Van Boerum was born in 1617 at Burum, Friesland, Netherlands. He was the son of Jacob Van Boerum. William Jacobse Van Boerum married Geertje Hendrickse circa 1636. William Jacobse Van Boerum immigrated to New Amsterdam, New York, arriving circa 27 September 1649. He was a Magistrate (as well as in 1662 and 1663) in 1657 at New York. He was identified as "Actuel Schepen" or Over Seer, and reported the invasion of the town by the British to Peter Stuyvesant in 1664 at Flatbush, Kings County, New York. He was took the Oath of Allegiance to the King of England.      Elizabeth Stream was born in 1624.¹ She was the daughter of John Stream and Elizabeth (?).¹ Elizabeth Stream married Captain John Holbrook, son of Thomas Holbrooke of Weymouth and Jane Powyes, circa 1646; His 2nd (widower).^1,2 Elizabeth Stream died on 25 June 1688 at age 64 years.¹

     Theophilus Phillips Sr. was grandson of the Reverend George Phillips (but whose exact father was unknown to Savage and Riker).² He was the brother of Mrs. Nagle and Joseph Phillips.³ He was born in 1653 at Boston, Masachusetts. He was the son of N. N. Phillips.      A qualifying New Sweden Forefather.² Samuel Petersson was christened circa 1629 at Fyrksände Parish, Värmland län, Finland. He was the son of Peter of Finland. Samuel Petersson immigrated to New Sweden Colony, Delaware, arriving 1654; on the ship Ornen (the Eagle) with Govenor Rising. He signed the loyalty oath to Governor Rising with his distinctive mark on 9 June 1654.¹ He signed the oath of loyalty to the Dutch, with the same mark as before, on 9 September 1655.¹ He married Brita Jönsdotter, daughter of Jöns Andersson and Maria Andersson, Mrs., before 1658. Samuel Petersson was fined 50 guilders for his involvement in the Long Finn Rebellion in 1669.¹

He was a witness where Gunner Johan Andersson Stalcop sold one-half of his Christina plantation, perhaps to recover from the incredibly stiff fine incurred during the Long Finn Rebellion, to Samuel Petersson and Lars Corneliusson on 10 October 1674 at Christina, Delaware.³ Samuel Petersson was purchaser of one-half of John Anderson Stalcup's plantation on 10 October 1674 at Christina, Delaware.¹ He signed a protest, as "Sammel Peetersen," one of the deacons of Crane Hook church, against Jacob Fabritius' establishment of a competing church in New Castle County on 14 August 1675.¹ He executed a confirming deed on the Stalcup property on 16 April 1676 at Christina, Delaware.¹ He was named the sole heir of his neighbor, and father-in-law, Jöns Andersson the blacksmith, on 5 November 1678.¹ He received a warrant for additional land in 1680.¹ He received a warrant for additional land in 1682.¹ He left a will on 25 November 1689; bequeathed his dwelling plantation at Christina to "he of my sons whom is longest with my loving wife."¹ He died after 25 November 1689 at Delaware Colony, New Castle County, Delaware.

     Harmen Coerton of Voorhuysen was born circa 1610 at Voorhuysen, Guelderland, Holland, Netherlands.¹ He was the son of Coerton. Harmen Coerton of Voorhuysen married Aertje Gerrits before 1642.¹ Harmen Coerton of Voorhuysen immigrated to New Utrecht, New York, New Netherlands, arriving 12 February 1659; Aboard the ship De Trouw (The Faith) were "Harmen Coerten, from Voorhuysen and wife and 5 children." The ship was captained by Jan Jansen Bestevaer.^2,1 He made a declaration regarding the raid on the town by Captain John Scott in 1664 at New Utrecht.¹ He made the Oath of Allegience to the King of England in 1665 at Bergen, New Jersey.¹ He died on 26 November 1689 at Bergen County, New Jersey.¹ Harmen Coerton of Voorhuysen was buried in the Dutch Church, Bergen, New Jersey.      Sarah Thayer was born circa 1633 at Thornbury, England.¹ She was the daughter of Richard Tayer Jr. and Dorothy Mortimore.^1,2,3 Sarah Thayer accompanied the immigration of Richard Tayer Jr. in 1641 to Braintree, Massachusetts, America; A widower, and presumably a younger brother of Thomas, coming to New England with 8 children.^4,5 Sarah Thayer married Samuel Davis on 20 July 1651 at Boston, Massachusetts, America.^1,6 Sarah Thayer married Jonathan Hayward, son of William Hayward of London and Margery Knight, on 6 May 1663 at 3rd mo., Massachusetts.^1,2,7,3 Sarah Thayer died in 1690.³

     Hendrick Corson Vroom was born in 1653 at New Amsterdam, Kings County, New York.¹ He was the son of Cornelius Pietertse Vroom and Tryntje Hendricks. Hendrick Corson Vroom married Josina Pietersen Van Neste, daughter of Pieter Pietersen Van Nest and Judith Jorise Rapalje, circa 1676. Hendrick Corson Vroom was ancestor of the New Jersey Vroom Family.¹ He died between 1690 and 1696 at Somerset County, New Jersey. He lived "to a good old age."¹

     John Rush Jr. is considered the ancestor of the NJ branch of the Rush family.¹ He was born on 1 March 1659/60 at Hornton, Oxfordshire, England.^2,3 He was the son of Captain John "Old Trooper" Rush of Hornton and Susanna Lucas of Broughton near Banbury.¹ John Rush Jr. died in May 1690 at Byberry Township, Pennsylvania, at age 30 years and 2 months.⁴

     Huldah Hayward of Braintree and Ferdinando Tayer of Mendon were an ancestor of U.S. President William Howard Taft.⁴ Huldah Hayward of Braintree was born on 7 October 1636 at London, England.^5,6 She was the daughter of William Hayward of London and Margery Knight.^1,2,3 Huldah Hayward of Braintree was christened on 14 October 1636 at Stepney-London, St. Dunstans Parish, Middlesex, England.^1,7 She married Ferdinando Tayer of Mendon, son of Thomas Tayer of Braintree and Margery Wheeler, on 14 January 1652/53 at 11th mo., Braintree, Suffolk County, Massachusetts; Married by Mr. Tory of Weymouth.^{2,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18} Huldah Hayward of Braintree witnessed (or was recognized by) the probate of the estate of William Hayward of London on 14 June 1659; Admin[istration] gr[anted] to widow Margery for herself and children.      James Holt was born on 21 June 1651 at Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Nicholas Holt of Newbury and Elizabeth Short. James Holt married Hannah Allen, daughter of Andrew Allen of Andover and Faith Ingalls, on 12 October 1675 at Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts.¹ James Holt died on 13 December 1690 at Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts, at age 39 years, 5 months and 22 days.

     Thomas Robinson was born circa 1666. He married Susanna Witham, daughter of Robert Witham and Ann Witham, Mrs., circa 1688. Thomas Robinson died before 1691.

     N. N. Stalcop was born in 1660.¹ She was the daughter of Gunner Johan Andersson Stalcop and Christina Carlsdotter. N. N. Stalcop married Lulof Stedham, son of Timmel Stiddem and N. N. (?), before 1679; His 1st.^1,2,3 N. N. Stalcop witnessed the will of Gunner Johan Andersson Stalcop on 29 August 1679; His will made bequests to his wife, Christina Carlsdotter, and seven children.⁴ N. N. Stalcop had three children before her death before 1691.¹ She died circa 1691.¹

     Abraham Isaacson Ver Planck was born in 1606. He was the son of Isaac Ver Planck. Abraham Isaacson Ver Planck married Maria Vigne, daughter of Ghislain Vigne and Adrienne Cuville, in 1634; Her 2nd. Abraham Isaacson Ver Planck died in 1691 at age 85 years.

     Thomas Drake was baptized on 13 September 1635 at Colyton, Devonshire, England.² He was the son of William Drake of Yardbury.² Thomas Drake immigrated to America arriving 1653/54; He came to America with his sister Joane.² He married Jane Holbrooke, daughter of Thomas Holbrooke of Weymouth and Jane Powyes, circa 1656; His 1st.^1,2,3 Thomas Drake was a property owner in 1663 at Weymouth, Massachusetts.² He was a member of the garrison at Punckapouge for two months during King Philip's War in 1675 at Massachusetts.² He married Millicent Ford, daughter of William Ford, in 1681; His 2nd.⁴ Thomas Drake died in 1691 at age 55 years.⁴

     Frederick I, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg was the son of Ernst "der Fromme", Herzog von Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and Elizabeth Sophia of Saxe-Altenburg.¹ Frederick I, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg died in 1691.¹

     Jonathan Thayer Sr. was born on 18 March 1658 at 1st month, Braintree, Massachusetts.^3,4,2 He was the son of Ferdinando Tayer of Mendon and Huldah Hayward of Braintree.^1,2 Jonathan Thayer Sr. married Elizabeth French on 22 June 1679 at Braintree, Massachusetts.⁵ Jonathan Thayer Sr. lived in 1680 at Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts.⁵ He was a farmer at Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts.⁵ He died in 1690/91 at Mendon, Worcestor County, Massachusetts, America, at age 32 years.¹

     John Russ of Andover was born on 24 June 1641 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.¹ He was the son of John Russ of Newbury and Margaret (?).² John Russ of Andover married Deborah Osgood, daughter of John Osgood and Ann Sarah Booth, on 28 August 1663 at Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts.¹ John Russ of Andover died on 4 March 1690/91 at Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts, at age 49 years, 8 months and 8 days.¹

     He was doubtless related to George Godfrey, of Chatham, who had: George, born 1663; Samuel, Moses, Richard. Jonathan and daughters.² Richard Godfrey Sr. was born in 1631 at Lancaster, Lancashire, England.^3,1,4 He was the son of Richard Godfrey.¹ Richard Godfrey Sr. married Mary Jane Turner, daughter of John Turner and Jane Turner, Mrs., before 1652 at Taunton, Massachusetts; His 1st.^5,6 Richard Godfrey Sr. lived in 1652 at Taunton, Massachusetts.^7,8,2 He was possibly the Richard Godfrey who "married a daughter of John Turner".⁷ He married Mary Phillips on 26 March 1684 at Taunton, Massachusetts; Her 2nd (widow).^5,9,10 Richard Godfrey Sr. died on 16 October 1691 at Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts, at age 60 years.^1,8,2

     Anders Johansson Stalcop was born in 1656.² He was the son of Gunner Johan Andersson Stalcop and Christina Carlsdotter. Anders Johansson Stalcop married Catharina (?) before 1678; Her 1st.^2,1 Anders Johansson Stalcop witnessed the will of Gunner Johan Andersson Stalcop on 29 August 1679; His will made bequests to his wife, Christina Carlsdotter, and seven children.³ Anders Johansson Stalcop died circa 1692.²

     Also called Pieter Scamp of Bushwick.³ Also called Pieter Eschamp.⁴ Pieter Schamp was born on 24 June 1636 at Ghent, East Flanders, Belgium. On the day of his birth, he must have been a very sick child and in imminent danger of death. For on the same day his parents brought him to St. Martin's Church in Ghent to be baptized; in the records of this church there is recorded, in Latin, under the date of June 24th 1636, the following: "Ego Saceelluns Baptizavi Petrum filium Jacobi Schamp et Elisabeth Cuijpers conjugum, natum codem die hors nons nans, Susceperunt Petrus Schamp, Elisabeth Veerset at Johannes Yman." A translation: "I, Caplin Sacellanus, have baptized Pieter, the son of Jacob Schamp and Elisabeth Cuypers, married, born the same day at 9 o'clock in the morning. Among the witnesses were Pieter Schomp, Elisabeth Versert and Jan Yman."⁵ He was baptized on 24 June 1636 at St. Martins Catholic Church, St. Martins - Latem, Ghent, East Flanders, Belgium.^1,5 He was the son of Jacob Schamp and Elisabeth Cuypers.^1,2 Pieter Schamp was grew up strong and healthy despite the anxious first day. He began military service circa 1657 at Ghent, East Flanders, Belgium, as was expected of a middle son. The oldest sons took over the father's business, name, and titles, and the youngest went into the priesthood.¹ He immigrated to New York City, Kings County, New York, arriving 1672; He left the Old World for the New, perhaps in search of adventure in the colonies, perhaps because he no longer was a Roman Catholic but a member of the Reformed Church and was escaping persecution. Whether he had a family before he left is not known, the fifteen years he served as a soldier in Ghent is a mystery. That he would be noted as "Soldaet" in his marriage to Janneke does not imply he came to America in that employ for by 1672 the British had already assumed control over all the colonies formerly belonging to the Dutch.^6,5,7,8 He lived after 1672 at an Inn on Manhatten, New York City, Kings County, New York. He was continuing his employment as a soldier in the New World after 1672 at New York City, Kings County, New York. In this position he met his future wife, Jannetje Dircks, the youngest daughter of Direck Volkertszen, a prominant citizen of New York and Long Island. He married Janneken Dircks, daughter of Dirck Volckertszen and Christina Vigne, on 7 October 1674 at the Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, Kings County, New York; "Pieter Schamp, Soldaet, j. m. Van Gendy, en Jannetje Dircks, j. d. Van Noortmans Kill. Eodem."^1,9,2 Pieter Schamp received as a wedding gift from his father-in-law some 18 acres of land on 7 October 1674 at Bushwick, Kings County, New York. He brought his first children to the Dutch Church in New Amsterdam because there was no church in the village of Bushwick. He was taxed 34,10 for the land he was on, 1 poll, 2 cows, and 1 sheep, on 16 August 1675 at Bushwick, Kings County, New York.^10,11 He witnessed the baptism of Justis Schamp on 23 August 1676 at the Dutch Reformed Church, New York City, Kings County, New York; "Joost."^1,12,13 Pieter Schamp was taxed 1 poll, 3 cows, and 9 morgans of land, in September 1676 at Bushwick, Kings County, New York.^10,11 He became employed as a weaver because there was no need for a full-time soldier in such a small settlement, it being situated close to the protection of the city, before 1677 at New York City, Kings County, New York. He was involved in a dispute with the governor's wife, to wit "Mrs. Judith Stuyvesant complains of Peter Schamp, of Boswyck, on Long Island: That near ten months ago she delivered to the defendant, to weave, a parcell of yarn, to the quantity of 29 lbs., which he promised to weave in some few days, the Plaintiff paying him for his labour. But so it is that the Plaintiff since that time hath made several demands for her yarn or the linnen, but could not obtain anything of ye Defendant. Wherefore ye Plaintiff appeals to this court, February 11, 1677." Judith was the wife of Peter Stuyvesant, the last of the Dutch governors of New Netherland. This dispute was recorded in court minutes on 11 February 1677 at New York, Kings County, New York.^14,11 He received a conveyence from Dirck Volkerse in which Dirck officially signed over his earlier gift of some 20 acres of land on the north side of Volkert Dirckse on 24 April 1677 at Bushwick, Kings County, New York.¹¹

     Ruth Jackson was born on 16 January 1664 at Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.¹ She was the daughter of Edward Jackson and Elizabeth Newgate.¹ Ruth Jackson died circa 1692. She died unmarried.¹
