He was the son of Sir Pain de Tibetot and Agnes Wrothe.^1,2 (1399/0) In the 1st Henry IV, retained in the service of that king, during his life, had, in consideration thereof, a grant of 100 marks per annum, payable out of the issues of the county Cambridge.¹ John, Lord Tiptoft and Powys married Joyce de Cherleton, daughter of Edward, 5th Lord Cherleton of Powys and Countess of March Eleanor Holland, on 28 February 1421/22; His 2nd.² John, Lord Tiptoft and Powys died in 1443.¹

     Also called Duke, Beaufort, 1st of Somerset.² John (Beaufort), 1st Duke of Somerset was father of Margaret, Countess of Richmond, mother of Henry VII.² He was born circa 1400. He was the son of John Beaufort, Earl of Somerset, Marquess of Dorset and Margaret, Marchioness of Dorset. John (Beaufort), 1st Duke of Somerset married Margaret Beauchamp, daughter of John, 3rd Baron Beauchamp of Bletsoe and Edith Stourton, between 1439 and 1442.³ John (Beaufort), 1st Duke of Somerset was nominated into the Order of the Garter, #156, between August 1439 and April 1441.² He died on 27 May 1444.² John (Beaufort), 1st Duke of Somerset was buried in St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, England. His Order of the Garter Stall Plate is in South 13.²

     Lady Joan Beaufort was born circa 1402?. She was the daughter of John Beaufort, Earl of Somerset, Marquess of Dorset and Margaret, Marchioness of Dorset.¹ Lady Joan Beaufort married James I, King of Scotland, son of Robert III, King of Scotland and Annabella Drummond, on 2 February 1423/24; Her 1st.¹ Lady Joan Beaufort married Sir James Stewart "the Black Knight of Lorn", son of Sir John Stewart of Innermeath and Isabel de Ergadia, in 1439; Her 2nd.¹ Lady Joan Beaufort died on 15 July 1445.¹
