He was the son of Robert de Gant and Gunnora d' Aubigny.1 Earl of Lincon Gilbert de Gant was underage at his father's death in 1191.2 He came of age circa 1201.2 He had acquittance of his 3rd scutage, having served personally with his knights, in 1202. He confirmed, for the souls of his father Robert and his mother Gunnor, to Rufford the land that Earl Gilbert had given him at Barton.2 He married N. N. , wife of Gilbert de Gant. Earl of Lincon Gilbert de Gant was served with the King in 1210 at Ireland.2 He took part with the Barons, being one of their confederates in 1215.2 He joined with Louis of France in his attempt on England in 1216.2 He was given the sword of the county of Lincoln by King Louis of France, and was consequently called Earl of Lincoln.3 He was the predecessor of Ranulph de Blundevil, 7th Earl of Chester; 5th Earl of Lincoln.4 Earl of Lincoln at England.4 Earl of Lincon Gilbert de Gant never conquered the castle of Lincoln, and fled at King John's approach, and on a renewed siege was taken prisoner at the battle of "Lincoln Fair" when the Earl Marshal routed the besiegers on 20 May 1217.4 He was pardoned, and obtained his lands, but remains an obscure figure afterwards.4 He served the King in 1224 at Wales.4 He accompanied the King overseas in 1230.4 He confirmed to the monks of Bardney free passage across the Humbar at Barton in 1240.4 He died before 22 January 1241/42.4

He was the son of Reginald, titular seigneur de Courtenay and Hawise de Courcy, Lady of Oakhampton.2 Robert de Courtenay, Baron of Oakhampton succeeded his uncle in Sutton Courtenay in 1209.3 Sheriff of Devon, Castellan of Exeter at England in 1215.3 He was made responsible by King John for the minting of tin coin in Devon and Cornwall in 1215.3 He inherited from his mother the great Honor of Oakhampton, which amounted to 92 kingiht's fees, on 31 July 1219 at Devon, England.3 He married Mary de Vernon, daughter of William, 5th Earl of Devon and Mabirie de Beaumont-le-Roger, before 1230; Her 2nd (widow).3,2 Robert de Courtenay, Baron of Oakhampton died on 27 July 1242.2 Robert de Courtenay, Baron of Oakhampton was buried in the Ford Abbey, Devon, England.

     Robert Marmion the younger was the son of Robert Marmion, 3rd Lord of Tamworth.2 Robert Marmion the younger made a fine with the King to pay 500l. for having custody of the castle of Tamworth and the lands of which his father, Robert, had been seised, to hold until his brother, Robert the elder, should make peace with the King, in which event he was to retain the vills of Winteringham and Coningsby, Lincolnshire, Quinton, Gloucestershire, and Berwick, Sussex, on 15 May 1218.3 He lost the castle of Tamworth to his brother, Robert the elder, in 1220.4 He died before 23 October 1242. He died probably in 1241.5

Annals of Ulster 1204: "A hosting by [Ugo] the son of Ugo De Lacy with a force of Foreigners of Meath into Ulidia, so that they expelled John De Courcy out of Ulidia."1 Annals of Ulster 1205: "John De Courcy, destroyer of the churches and territories of Ireland, was expelled by [Ugo] the son of Ugo De Lacy into Tir-Eogain, to the protection of Cenel-Eogain."3 Hugh de Lacy, Earl of Ulster became 1st Earl of Ulster in 1205 at Ireland.4 He was rewarded by King John with grants of land in Ulster and Connaught, which were confirmed by a charter, at which date (or earlier) Hugh was created earl, on 29 May 1205.2 He married Emmeline de Ridelisford, daughter of Lord of Bray Walter de Ridelisford and Annora (?), circa 1233; His 2nd. Her 1st. s.p.5,6 Hugh de Lacy, Earl of Ulster took part in the great raid of Richard de Burgh in 1235. He was a witness where Richard de Burgh, Lord of Connaught led a great raid into Connaught in 1235. Hugh de Lacy, Earl of Ulster gathered a great army from Ireland and the Isle of Man, and joined Thomas, illegitimate son of Alan of Galloway, in his rebellion in April 1236. He was a witness where Alexander II "the Peaceful", King of Scotland compelled Thomas, illegitimate son of Alan of Galloway, and Hugh de Lacy, who was assisting Thomas' rebellion, to come to terms in April 1236. Hugh de Lacy, Earl of Ulster was a witness where Thomas of Galloway received assistance from Hugh de Lacy in April 1236. Annals of Ulster 1242: "Hugh De Lacy, Earl of Ulster, rested."7 Hugh de Lacy, Earl of Ulster died before 26 December 1242 at Ulster, Ireland. D.s.p.8 Annales Hiberniae 1243: "Obiit Hugo Laci, comes Ultoniae, unicam filiam relinquens, quam in uxorem duxit Gualterus de Burgo, et cum ea suscepit comitatum Ultoniae; sepultus est Hugo apud Cnocfergus in conventu fratrum."8

     Thomas I "the observer", Lord of Berkeley also went by the name of Thomas I "the temporiser".2,3 He was born circa 1170 at England.2 He was the son of Maurice I "the make peace" fitz Robert, Lord of Berkeley and Alice de Berkeley.4,5 Thomas I "the observer", Lord of Berkeley was the successor of Lord of Berkeley Robert II "the rebellious" de Berkeley; fuedal Lord of Berkeley.2 Thomas I "the observer", Lord of Berkeley married Joane de Somery, daughter of Sir Ralph de Somery of Dudley and Margaret Marshall, circa 1217.1,2 Thomas I "the observer", Lord of Berkeley obtained livery of his brother's lands, except for Berkeley, after 13 May 1220.2 He recovered the Castle of Berkeley in 1223.2 Fuedal Lord of Berkeley at Gloucestershire, England, between 1223 and 29 November 1243.2 He gave his two nephews as pledges for his fidelity and gained restitution of Berkeley Castle in 1223/24 at 8 Henry III.1 He died on 29 November 1243 at England. He died age about 73.2 He was the predecessor of Maurice II "the resolute", Lord of Berkeley; feudal Lord of Berkeley.6 Thomas I "the observer", Lord of Berkeley was buried in St. Augustine's, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.6
