In 1205, Mahaut married Guiges IV de Forez. In the same year her brother, Archambaud VIII married a Guigon de Forez. They undoubtedly married into the same family and in other words Guiges IV, who we know was the son of Guiges III, was mostly likely the brother of Guigon. JJ Villem says an "Alix Guigone" married Gerard II de Vienne. "Alix Guigone" is probably two daughters, Alix, named for her mother, who married Gerard II and had a daughter named Alix, and Guigone, who we know married Archambaud VIII de Dampierre, sire de Bourbon.2 Mahaud de Dampierre was born circa 1198?.      Louis VIII "le Lion", roi de France was the father of Louis IX "le Saint", roi de France; the fourth child (but oldest surviving) of King Louis VIII and his queen, Blanche of Castile.4 Louis VIII "le Lion", roi de France also went by the name of Louis "Le Lion pacifique".5 Louis VIII "le Lion", roi de France also went by the name of Louis "Cúur de Lion, de Montpensier".5 He was the successor of Philippe II "Auguste", roi des Francs; King of France.6 Louis VIII "le Lion", roi de France was born on 5 September 1187 at Paris, France.3 He was the son of Philippe II "Auguste", roi des Francs and Isabel de Hainaut.2,3 Louis VIII "le Lion", roi de France married Blanche Alfonsez de Castilla, daughter of Alfonso VIII Sánchez "el de Las Navas", rey de Castilla and reina de Castilla Eleanor d' Anjou, on 23 May 1200 at Abbey of Port-Mort, Bapaume, Pont-Audemer, Normandy, France.2,7,3 Arms: Azure semy de lis or.8 Louis VIII "le Lion", roi de France landed at Stanhope with almost as big an invasion force as the Battle of Hastings on 21 May 1215. He was recognized as the King of England, with great pomp, by the Barons and all London citizenry, on 2 June 1215 at St. Paul's, London. King of England between 2 June 1215 and 1217. He laid siege to Winchester and Dover on 14 June 1215. Annals of Monte Fernando 1216: "Loudovicus filius regis Francie, venit in Angliam."9 He succeeded his father to the throne of France on 14 July 1223.10 He was consecrated on 6 August 1223 at Rheims, France.10 King of France between 6 August 1223 and 1226.6,10 Styled par la grâce de Dieu, roi de France. He was a witness where Philippe Hurepel, comte de Clermont had his grants of Domfront and Mortain confirmed by Louis VIII, his brother, in February 1224.11 Louis VIII "le Lion", roi de France left a will in June 1225; Provided for his brother, Philippe Hurepel (Domfront and Mortain), and sons Robert (Artois), Jean (Anjou and Maine), Alphonse (Poitou and Auvergne). Introduced for the first time the restriction that the lands return to the Crown in the absence of direct heir. The restriction was not consistently inserted in the actual letters patent at first, but the Parliment of Paris in 1284 denied Charles d'Anjou's right to inherit his brother's domain of Poitou as collateral heir. Thus the apanage was born.11 Annals of Monte Fernando 1226: "Lodowicus junior coronatur."12 He launched a successful crusade against the Albigensian heretics, capturing the major fortress of Avignon before returning toward Paris because of illness in 1226. He died on 8 November 1226 at Montpensier, Puy-de-Dome, Auvergne, France, at age 39 years, 2 months and 3 days. He ruled 3 years, and 4 months. He died of dysentery.7,3,10 He was the predecessor of Louis IX "le Saint", roi de France; King of France.6 Louis VIII "le Lion", roi de France was buried in the Basilica of St. Denis, Paris, Seine-Saint-Denis, Île-de-France, France.10
