He was the son of basileus Rhomaiôn Isaac II Angelos and Eirene Komnene.1 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexios IV Angelos made his way to Germany, where he succeeded in bringing about the diversion of the Fourth Crusade to Constantinople in order to restore his father to power, in 1201.2 Co-Emperor of the East at Byzantine Empire between 1203 and 1204.3 He was a witness where basileus Rhomaiôn Isaac II Angelos restored to power, and his son crowned co-emperor as Alexios IV, on 1 August 1203 at Constantinople, Byzantine Empire.2 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexios IV Angelos was crowned co-emperor with his father, now restored, on 1 August 1203 at Constantinople, Byzantine Empire.2 He was deposed in a revolution, caused by friction between townspeople and the crusaders who had restored his father to power, in January 1204.2 He was a witness where basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius V Doukas Murtzuphlos began his four-month reign by imprisoning the deposed Alexius IV, whom he later had strangled in January 1204.4 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexios IV Angelos was the predecessor of basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius V Doukas Murtzuphlos; Emperor.3,4 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexios IV Angelos died on 8 February 1204 at Constantinople, Byzantine Empire.       Basileus Rhomaiôn Isaac II Angelos was born in 1155.3 He was the son of Andronikos Angelos and Euphrosyne Kastamonitissa.2 Basileus Rhomaiôn Isaac II Angelos married Eirene Komnene, daughter of basileus Rhomaiôn Andronikos I Komnenos and Philippa d' Antioch; His 1st.2 Basileus Rhomaiôn Isaac II Angelos succeeded his first cousin, once removed, Andronicus, after a revoltion by the aristocrats installed him in the imperial throne in 1185.4 He was unexpectedly proclaimed emperor by the mob that murdered his cousin, the emperor Andronicus I Comnenus, in September 1185 at Constantinople, Byzantine Empire.5 He was unsuccessful, however, in recovering Cyprus from the rebel Isaac Comnenus, who set himself up as an independent ruler of that island after September 1185.5 He was saw his reign inaugurated by the decisive victory of his general Alexius Branas over the Normans, who, after invading the empire and sacking Thessalonica, were then driven off Greek soil, except for the islands of Cephalonia and Zacynthus (modern Zante), after September 1185.5 Emperor at Byzantine Empire between September 1185 and 1195.6 He was led expeditions against the Bulgarians and Walachians, now in revolt, between 1186 and 1187.5 He was forced to recognize the second Bulgarian empire in 1187.5 He was confronted with the Third Crusade, and to protect himseld from Frederick I Barbarossa, he tried to protect himself by concluding a treaty with Saladin, the sultan of Egypt, in 1189.5 He concluded the Treaty of Adrianople with Frederick I Barbarossa in February 1190.5 He was a witness where Friedrich I "Barbarossa", Kaiser der Römisches Reich concluded the Treaty of Adrianople with Isaac II Angelus of Byzantium in February 1190.5 Basileus Rhomaiôn Isaac II Angelos turned his attention to the Balkans and restored Byzantine prestige by defeating Stephen Nemanja of Serbia after February 1190.5 He was a witness where Stefan Nemnja Vukanovici, veliki zupan Raske defeated by Isaac II Angelus, Emperor of Byzantium, after February 1190.5 Basileus Rhomaiôn Isaac II Angelos planned an expedition against the Bulgarians, with Hungarian help, and assembled a Byzantine army for this purpose near the city of Cypsela circa March 1195 at spring.5 He was deposed, imprisoned, and blinded by his brother, Alexius III, on 8 April 1195.5 He married Hercegnõ Magyarország Margaret Magyar, daughter of Béla III, Király Magyarország and Ágnes de Châtillon, circa 1196; His 2nd. He was the successor of basileus Rhomaiôn Alexios IV Angelos; Co-Emperor of the East.2 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius V Doukas Murtzuphlos led a Greek revolt against the coemperors Isaac II and Alexius IV, who had been reinstated by the Latin crusaders, and became the last Greek emperor of a united Byzantium before its overthrow and partition by the crusaders between 1203 and 1204.1 He was the successor of basileus Rhomaiôn Isaac II Angelos; Co-Emperor.2 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius V Doukas Murtzuphlos married Eudokia Angelina, daughter of basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius III Angelos and Euphrosyne Doukaina Kamaterina, circa 1204; Her 2nd.3,1,4 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius V Doukas Murtzuphlos began his four-month reign by imprisoning the deposed Alexius IV, whom he later had strangled in January 1204.1 Emperor at Byzantine Empire between January 1204 and April 1204.2,1 He witnessed the death of basileus Rhomaiôn Alexios IV Angelos on 8 February 1204 at Constantinople, Byzantine Empire; Strangled by his successor, Alexius V, son-in-law of Alexius III Angelos.5,6 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius V Doukas Murtzuphlos was the predecessor of basileus Rhomaiôn Konstantinos XI Laskaris; titular Emperor.7,8 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius V Doukas Murtzuphlos was the leader of the anti-Latin party in Constantinople, and disavowed Alexius IV's debt to the crusaders and demanded their withdrawal from Constantinople on 9 April 1204.1 He was a witness where basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius III Angelos blinded Alexius V, his son-in-law, who fleeing the Latins beseiging Constantinople sought refuge with him on 12 April 1204.1 Basileus Rhomaiôn Alexius V Doukas Murtzuphlos fled Constantinople, now beseiged by the Crusaders, and joined the fugitive Alexius III, his father-in-law, who blinded him on 12 April 1204.1 He died after 12 April 1204. He was then captured by the crusaders, who put him to death as the murderer of Alexius IV by casting him from the top of a column in Constantinople.5,1 He was the predecessor of Baudouin I, imperator Romaniae; Latin Emperor.2
