Also called reina de Castilla y León Urraca Alfonsa de Castilla.4,5 Urraca, reina de León y de Castilla was "Era hija de Alfonso VI y de Constanza de Borgoña."6 She was born circa 1080. No known chronicler recorded the birth of Urraca. Much later, in official documents, she would style herself "daughter of King Alfonso and Queen Constance."7,1 She was the daughter of Alfonso VI Fernández "el Bravo", rey de León and Constance de Bourgogne.1,2,3 A contract for the marriage of Urraca, reina de León y de Castilla and Raymond, comte de Bourgogne was signed circa 1087. Urraca, reina de León y de Castilla was engaged, if not married, at a date not allowed by Canon law, which specified a minimum age of twelve, but the breach of canon law in the face of dire political necessity was hardly unknown in the medieval period, circa 1087.8 She married Raymond, comte de Bourgogne, son of Guillaume I "Tête hardie", comte de Bourgogne & de Vienne and Etiennette de Barcelona, circa 1093 at Toledo, Castile - La Mancha, Spain; Her 1st. 3rd cousins, 1x removed.7,9,2,6 Urraca, reina de León y de Castilla lived no easy life given the value that the age placed upon a male heir, the likelihood is that something like seven other conceptions may have occurred, ending in miscarriages, stillbirths, or deaths in infancy between 1095 and 1105.10 She was a witness where Alfonso VI Fernández "el Bravo", rey de León granted a royal charter to the Bishop of Oviedo, accompanied by his queen and his two daughters by her, the infantas Sancha and Elvira; the king's son by Zaida and his sons-in-law and their wives also confirmed, on 16 March 1104 at Asturia.11 Urraca, reina de León y de Castilla succeeded her deceased husband; that is, she became the ruler, under the crown, of not only Galicia but also the Zamora district and a territory stretching south and east as far as Coria, Salamanca, and Ávila in 1109.10,12 Queen of Castile and León at Spain between 1 July 1109 and 8 March 1126.13,14,15 She married Alfonso I Sánchez "el Batallador", rey de Aragón y Navarra, son of Sancho I, rey de Aragón y de Pamplona and Felicité de Roucy, in October 1109 at Monzon Castle, Carrion, Spain; Her 2nd. 2nd cousins.7,16,17,9,18 The marriage of Urraca, reina de León y de Castilla and Alfonso I Sánchez "el Batallador", rey de Aragón y Navarra was annulled in 1114; Without issue.7,19 Assuredly she used her sex for enjoyment but, more important, she also used it as a weapon. One should understand her liaisons primarily as political strategems that secured allies without providing her with masters. The marriage with Alfonso I of Aragón failed, in part at least, because the Batallador could not be other than master.20 It was in Urraca's troubled reign that Leon-Castile, for the first time since the days of Ferdinand I, lost the leadership of the reconquest, which passed eastward to new state of Aragon.21 Urraca, reina de León y de Castilla associated with Pedro González, son of Gonzalo Muñoz, circa 1120; An affair.19,22 Urraca, reina de León y de Castilla died on 8 March 1126 at Saldaña, León, Spain. The twelfth-century "Chronicon Compostellanum" tells us that Urraca died in adulterous childbirth.10,15 She died on 15 March 1126. She died on this date, per the Chronica Adefonsi Imperatoris, after reigning sixteen years, eight months, seven days.23 Urraca, reina de León y de Castilla was buried in the Monastery of St. Isidoro, León, Spain. She was buried honorably there with her ancestors in the royal tombs.7

Guillaume IX "le Troubadour", duc de Guyenne, comte de Poitiers and Mahaut, comtesse de Toulouse were divorced in 1115. In the midst of his excesses, Bishop Peter excommunicated him. William entered the cathedral as the sentence was being pronounced. He drew his sword, siezed the bishop by the hair, and threatened to kill him if he didn't turn the excommunication into absolution. The bishop asked for some time, and when William released him, he completed the excommunication, bowed his head, and told William to strike. William changed his mind, sheathed his sword, and told the bishop "I do not choose to send you straight to Heaven." He did later order the bishop imprisoned and then exiled.2 Guillaume IX "le Troubadour", duc de Guyenne, comte de Poitiers was a protector, along with a great part of the southern nobility, of the Catharist heretics circa 1119.3 He battled the Moors near Cordova between 1120 and 1123 at Spain.3 He was the predecessor of Guillaume X "le Toulousain", duc de Guyenne, comte de Poitiers; Duke of Aquitaine and Gascony.7,2 Guillaume IX "le Troubadour", duc de Guyenne, comte de Poitiers was the predecessor of Guillaume X "le Toulousain", duc de Guyenne, comte de Poitiers; Count of Poitou.2 Guillaume IX "le Troubadour", duc de Guyenne, comte de Poitiers died on 10 February 1127 at Poitiers, Vienne, Poitou-Charentes, France.4,3 He was His fame rests chiefly on his being the first poet in the Provençal language whose works have come down to us. "His chansons, or songs, are boisterous, amorous, humorous, usually delicate but sometimes coarsely obscene and tend, in the fashion of courtly love, to idolize one's lady love.".3

Described by her daughter, Anna, in her Alexiad thusly: "She was just like some young, ever-blooming plant, all her limbs and features were perfectly symmetrical, each being broad or narrow in due proportion. She was so charming to look at as well as listen to that eyes and ears seemed unable to get their fill of seeing and hearing. Her face too shone with the soft glamour of the moon, it was not fashioned in a perfect circle like the faces of the Assyrian women, nor again was it very long like those of the Scythians, but it was just slightly modified from a perfect round. And the bloom of her cheeks was such that their rosy hue was visible even to those who stool afar off. Her eyes were blue, yet in spite of their gaiety, they were somewhat awe-inspiring, so that though by their gladness and beauty they attracted the eyes of all beholders, yet these felt constrained to close their eyes so that they knew neither how to resist looking at her nor how to look."3 Eirene Doukaina, basilissa Rhomaiôn was the little daughter of Andronicus, the eldest son of the Caesar, and of illustrious lineage, for she traced her descent from the famous houses of Andronicus and Constantine Ducas.3 She was born in 1066.
