Davit' II Agmashenebeli, King of Georgia was one of Bagrat III's descendents.5 He adopted the title "Sword of the Messiah," having it engraved on coins in Arabic, which was a means of popularizing the title and showed the Muslims that as the "Sword of the Messiah" he was the protector of Christians and to be feared by all enemies of Christendom.6 He extended the Bagratid claim of descent from the Prophet of David, stating the kingdom had been entrusted to him by the Lord, that God helped him rule the kingdom and sanctioned the destruction of his enemies, and to be against the crown was to be against God.6 He was grandson of the spouse of the Armenian emperor Gagik I.7 He was Georgi's only son, from the very same line of the father of God, David--from the Bagratid house.8 He was said to have "received and loved the Armenian people" and the remnants of whose forces assembled by him.9 The Georgian researcher Marian Lordkipanidze refers to this David as David IV.10 Also called David IV "the Restorer" of Georgia.9,3 Also called David IV "the Builder" of Georgia. He was the ancestor of Tamari Mepe, Tsarina of Georgia; the great grandaughter of King David IV.11 Davit' II Agmashenebeli, King of Georgia was born circa 1072.12 He was the successor of Giorgi II Kuropalati, King of Georgia; 54th King of Georgia.13,14 Davit' II Agmashenebeli, King of Georgia was the son of Giorgi II Kuropalati, King of Georgia and Helena Bagratuni.2,3,4 Davit' II Agmashenebeli, King of Georgia is mentioned by the Byzantine honorific "sebastos" in 1085.15 He was called a "panipersebastos" between 1089 and 1091.15 King of Georgia at Transcaucasia between 1089 and 1125.13,9 He was mentioned in the Ruis-Urbnisi synod by the title: "King of Abkhasians and Kartvelians, Ranians, and Kakhians, Autocrat".15 He married Princess Rousudan of Armenia; His 1st.3 Davit' II Agmashenebeli, King of Georgia stopped paying the tribute to Seljuk-Turks and began struggles for the final banishment of the enemy from Georgia in 1097.13 He drove the Turks from Kartli and Kakheti in 1104.16 He defeated a large Turkish army in the Ertsukhi battle in 1105.16 He defeated the Kakhetian king and annexed Ereti-Kakheti to Georgia in 1105.17 "They [King David and his chancellor Giorgi - G.K.] entered Ossetia, and were met by the kings of Ossetia and all their princes. Like servants they presented themselves before him; and hostages were given by both sides, Ossetes and Kipchaks. In this way he easily united the two nations, and made friendship and peace between them as (between) brothers. He took control of the fortresses of Darial (Persian "Dar-i-alan", Gate of Alans) and those of all the passes of Ossetia and of the Caucasus mountain. He created a safe passage for the Kipchaks, and brought through a very great multitude."18 He subjugated the Ossetian kings with the help of his father-in-law's people, the Qipchaq Huns, taking hostages from them and making peace between the Ossetians and Huns after 1108.12 He married Goranduxt of the Huns, daughter of Qipchaq chief At'rak of the Huns, after 1108; His 2nd.12,4 Davit' II Agmashenebeli, King of Georgia and Princess Rousudan of Armenia were divorced in 1107/8.3 "Tsar David reconciled the Kipchak khan Atrak with the Ossetian people and brought peace into the Dar'yal' Valley."7 Davit' II Agmashenebeli, King of Georgia liberated the towns of Samshvilde, Rustavi, Gishi, Kubala, and Lore between 1110 and 1118.16,19 "According to tradition, when the tsar entered into one of the churches to the grave of his grandmother -- the spouse of the Armenian emperor Gagik I, and said: 'Rejoice, tsaritsa! God hath delivered thy church from the Hagarites', suddenly a voice was heard: 'Thanks be to God!7'" "After the Seljuks were expelled from Tao, David sent his daughter, Kata, to Byzantium as the bride of the emperor. Prior to this, his elder daughter, Tamar, had been given in marriage to the shah of Shirvan (Azerbaijan), so that as two celestial, one would illuminate the East and other he West." In 1116.20 He advanced on and took Tbilisi which was declared as the Capital of Georgia in 1122.13 He advanced and attacked the Muslims unexpectedly with an alliance of Armenians, Qipchak, Osetin, and Shirvan achieving what in Georgian history is known as dzleva sakvirveli, the "wonderful victory" on 12 August 1122.21 He was asked by the Armenian nobles of Ani to rule their city in 1123.22 He also liberated Ani, at the request of the citizens of the Armenian city of Ani, expanding the southern borders of the Georgian Kingdom up to the Araks basin in 1124.16 He campaigned in Shirvan and annexed that territory to Georgia in 1123/24.22 He banished the Seljuk-Turks from the neighbouring Armenian and Azerbaijanian provinces and annexed these territories to Georgia; thus, at the end of the reign of the King David, the extent of Georgia was from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea.13 He died on 24 January 1125. "Having accumulated such goodness he approached the heavenly. But his corporeal life grew ill [and he died] when he was fifty-three years of age." He composed a testimony in which he wrote: "Now doth the Divine Providence of the Righteous God call me away, and it summon to the destined kingdom ... All that I have accomplished is by the power of the Venerable LifeCreating Wood of the Cross and to it I do account its Sign bringing me bliss". Having been communed the Holy Mysteries, "with praise on his lips he offered up his soul to the Lord in his 53rd year of life, on Saturday, 24 January 1125".23,4,7 He was the predecessor of Dimitre, King of Georgia; King of Georgia.24 . The tsar was buried at Gelatia Monastery, under the entrance to the church at the gate.7

He was born in 1053.7,8 He was the son of Vsevolod I Yaroslavich, Prince of Pereyaslavl, Chernigov, and Kiev and Maria Monomacha. He was also noted as a builder; he founded the city of Vladimir on the Klyazma River in northeastern Russia, which by the end of the 12th century replaced Kiev as the seat of the grand prince
. He left a will before 19 May 1125; In his "Testament," which he wrote for his sons and which constitutes the earliest known example of Old Russian literature written by a layman, Vladimir recounted participating in 83 noteworthy military campaigns and recorded killing 200 Polovtsy princes. But he concludes his words with: "Let not my sons or whoever else reads this document criticise me. I do not commend my own boldness, but I praise God and glorify his memory because he guarded me, a sinful and a wretched man, for so many years in these dangerous vicissitudes, and did not make me inactive or useless for all the necessary works of man. As you read this screed, prepare yourselves for all good works, and glorify God among his saints. Without fear of death, of war, or of wild beasts, do a man's work, my sons, as God sets it before you. If I suffered no ill from war, from wild beasts, from flood, or from falling from my horse, then surely no one can harm you and destroy you, unless that too be destined of God. But if death comes from God, then neither father, nor mother, nor brethren can hinder it, and though it is prudent to be constantly upon one's guard, the protection of God is fairer than the protection of man."2 He died on 19 May 1125 at near Kiev, Rus, at age 72 years.7,28,23 He was the predecessor of Mstislav I Harald Vladimirovich, Prince of Novgorod, Great Prince of Kiev; 15th Prince of Kiev.29,30 Vladimir II Monomakh Vsevolodovich, Prince of Pereyaslavl, Smolensk, Chernigov, and Kiev was the predecessor of Yaropolk II Vladimirovich, Prince of Pereyaslavl, Great Prince of Kiev; Prince of Pereyaslavl.31,32 Vladimir II Monomakh Vsevolodovich, Prince of Pereyaslavl, Smolensk, Chernigov, and Kiev was buried in St.Sophia Cathedral, Kiev, Rus.6
