Urraca Fernández de Castilla was born circa 1034. First child. She was the daughter of Fernando I Sánchez "el Magno", rey de Castilla y de León and reine de Castilla Sancha Alfonsez de León.1 Urraca Fernández de Castilla witnessed the will of Fernando I Sánchez "el Magno", rey de Castilla y de León between December 1063 and January 1064; Almost exactly two years before his death, Fernando I had decided that his realm should be divided among his three grown sons when that event should at last take place. The anonymous author of the Historia Silense tells us that the fateful decision was made in a great council in late December 1063 or early January 1064. This chronicle is probably the oldest narrative of the division that has come down to us, but it tells us merely that he assigned León to Alfonso, his favorite son; Castilla to Sancho, the eldest; and Galicia to García, the youngest. In addition, to daughters Urraca and Elvira were assigned ah the royal monasteries of the realm of León-Castilla for the remainder of their lives or until they should marry.2 Urraca Fernández de Castilla was a witness where Alfonso VI Fernández "el Bravo", rey de León appears at Sahagún, in the company of his sisters Urraca and Elvira among others, in a charter on 7 July 1068.3 Urraca Fernández de Castilla associated with Alfonso VI Fernández "el Bravo", rey de León, son of Fernando I Sánchez "el Magno", rey de Castilla y de León and reine de Castilla Sancha Alfonsez de León, before 1072; "It has been asserted with some authority, however, that Alfonso also participated in an incestuous relationship with his sister, Urraca. Certainly their relationship was a close one."4 Urraca Fernández de Castilla was a witness where Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla siezed León from his brother Alfonso VI, who on their sister Urraca's urging he exiled, himself to rule, for a brief time, over all three kingdoms in 1072.5 Urraca Fernández de Castilla was credited by the early sources with persuading Sancho II to allow Alfonso to go into exile in 1072.5 She raised a rebellion against her brother Sancho on behalf of her exiled brother Alfonso before 6 October 1072.5 She witnessed the death of Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla on 6 October 1072 at cerca de Zamora, León, Spain; He was killed while besieging the rebel fortress-city of Zamora, held by his sister Urraca in Alfonso's name.6,7 Urraca Fernández de Castilla was a witness where Alfonso VI Fernández "el Bravo", rey de León arrested his brother García, with conniving from his sister Urraca, and imprisoning him for life in Castle Luna in 1073. Urraca Fernández de Castilla died in 1101. She died in the early months of the year.8

Étienne II, comte de Blois was the successor of Thibaut III, comte de Blois, Chartres, et Champagne; Count of Blois and Chartres. Étienne II, comte de Blois was born in 1046. He was the son of Thibaut III, comte de Blois, Chartres, et Champagne and Ersende du Maine.3 Étienne II, comte de Blois married Adèle de Normandie, daughter of Guillaume I "le Conquérant", roi d' Angleterre and Queen of England Mathilda van Vlaanderen, in 1080 at Chartres, France.4,5,6,7 Count of Blois and Chartres at France between 30 September 1089 and 1102. Étienne II, comte de Blois and Robert III "Courteheuse", duc de Normandie were joined Robert of Flanders, leader of the fourth contingent of the First Crusade in August 1096. Étienne II, comte de Blois arrived in Constantinople with the contingent of Robert of Flanders in May 1097.8 He was discouraged with the progress of the Crusades and abandoned it, and on his way home he encountered Emperor Alexius and convinced him that the situation at Antioch was hopeless, and Alexius turned around as well, and by that action, the Holy Land was left to the Crusaders, and not to be restored to Byzantium in March 1098. "Stephen of Blois, one of the few lords of the First Crusade to be favorable to the Emperor Alexius I Comnenus, emphasizes the honors that were bestowed upon him in a letter he wrote to his wife in 1097: 'I arrived at the city of Constantinople with great joy, by the grace of God. The emperor received me like his own son with much kindness and honor, and enriched me with very many precious gifts. In this whole army of God’s and ours there is no duke or count or any other powerful person whom he trusts and favors more than me. Indeed, my love, his Imperial Dignity has in the past often advised me, and still does, that we should entrust one of our sons to him, whom he promised to treat with such outstanding honor that he should not miss us at all. Truly I tell you, in our day there is not another man in his likes living under heaven. For he is quite generous to all our leaders, he assists all the knights with gifts and refreshes all the poor with feasting.' Alas, this testimony by Stephen of Blois is unique and does not reflect the attitudes of the other leaders of the First Crusade towards Alexius."9 He was returned to the Holy Land to again fight the Turks in 1101. He was the predecessor of Theobald II "le Grande", comte de Champagne; Count of Blois and Chartres. Étienne II, comte de Blois died on 27 May 1102 at Holy Land at age 56 years. Killed in the Battle of Ramleh, by the Turks, in the Crusade of 1101. A crusader under Godfrey de Bouillon, who fell, gallantly fighting against the Infidels at Rames (Battle of Ascalon actually).5,7
