He died at Ath-cliath, precisely on Sunday, the festival of Mary, in winter.4,7,6 It was in lamentation of him the poet composed these quatrains:

There is grief for a chief king at Ath-cliath,
Which will not be exceeded till the terrible Judgment Day;
Empty is the fortress without the descendant of Duach,
Quickly was the vigour of its heroes cut down.
Sorrowful every party in the fortress
For their chief, against whom no army prevailed;
Since the body of the king was hidden from all,
Every evil has showered ever constant.
For Murchadh, son of Diarmaid the impetuous,
Many a fervent prayer is offered;
In sorrow for the death of the chief is every host
That was wont to defeat in the battle,
Great the sorrow that he was not everlasting;
Pity that death hath attacked him.
Too early it was that he removed from him his complexion,
That he removed one like him from his body.
Liberal of wealth was the grandson of Mael-na-mbo;
He bestowed horses, and he distributed cows,
For the sake of his going to God.
Who is it to whom 'tis best to give fleeting wealth?7 Annals of Tigernach 1070: "Murchadh mac Diarmuta maic Mail na m-Bó, rí Laigen & Gall, mortuus est i n-Ath Cliath."4 Rí Laigin & Gall Murchad mac Diarmata Uí Chennselaig was buried in Áth Cliath (Dublin), Ireland.6

There are lots of uncertainties about these lines, since many records have not survived. Source materials for most things in the medieval Balkans are ususally not from contemporary writers, and the few contemporary sources existing are usually from Byzantine writers, not writers from the various states themselves. Two, seven times ten above one thousand,

Diarmaid, of the ruddy-coloured aspect,
A king who maintained the standard of war,
Whose death brought scarcity of peace,
The loss of the heroes of Ladhrann, with their ships.
Comely youths were cut down there,
Together with the head of Claire and Cualann.
It caused in the breeze a noise not pleasant,
The loss of the King of Riada of great valour.
Until at Muillenn-Chul was slain
A brave chieftain of a strong fortress,
Until the furious fire-brand fell by treachery,
They found no hero who dared with him contend.
It is a red wound through my firm heart;
For the host from Caindruim it was not just
To destroy our noble chief they had no right,
It has quenched their spirit greatly,
Diarmaid of the laughing teeth under violent sorrow;
There is not on account of his death banquet or feast;
There will not be peace, there will not be armistice."

The first son.6 He was the son of Fernando I Sánchez "el Magno", rey de Castilla y de León and reine de Castilla Sancha Alfonsez de León.1,2 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla witnessed the will of Fernando I Sánchez "el Magno", rey de Castilla y de León between December 1063 and January 1064; Almost exactly two years before his death, Fernando I had decided that his realm should be divided among his three grown sons when that event should at last take place. The anonymous author of the Historia Silense tells us that the fateful decision was made in a great council in late December 1063 or early January 1064. This chronicle is probably the oldest narrative of the division that has come down to us, but it tells us merely that he assigned León to Alfonso, his favorite son; Castilla to Sancho, the eldest; and Galicia to García, the youngest. In addition, to daughters Urraca and Elvira were assigned ah the royal monasteries of the realm of León-Castilla for the remainder of their lives or until they should marry.7 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla was a witness where Rodrigo Díaz "el Cid", conde de Valencia, señor de Vivar not nominated, at age 22, as the standard-bearer (armiger regis), or commander of the royal troops, for King Sancho II of Castile, as literature so often repeats in 1065.2,8 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla inherited Castile in the split of his father's kingdom in 1065.2 He was a witness where Rodrigo Díaz "el Cid", conde de Valencia, señor de Vivar confirmed some sixty percent of the charters of Sancho II, albeit his position in the royal court was most certainly of the second rank at best between 1065 and 1072.9 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla had some sixty percent of his charters confirmed by Rodrigo Díaz, the nobleman who would become famous as "El Cid" between 1065 and 1072.9 He is cited as ruling in Burgos in a Riojan document on 30 November 1065.10 King of Castile at Iberian peninsula between 27 December 1065 and 1072.2,11 He was a witness where Rodrigo Díaz "el Cid", conde de Valencia, señor de Vivar accompanied Sancho on a campaign against the important Moorish kingdom of Saragossa (Zaragoza) and played a leading role in the negotiations that made its king, al-Muqtadir, a tributary of the Castilian crown, in 1067.2 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla married Alberta (?) before 1071.12 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla usurped the Galician throne of his brother, Garcia, by force in 1071.4 He was a witness where García Fernández, rey de Galicia dispossessed of Galicia by force by his brother, Sancho the Strong, in 1071.4 King of Castile and Galicia at Iberian peninsula between 1071 and 1072.2,4,5 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla was a witness where Alberta (?) mentioned by name in a royal charter by Sancho to a Castilian noble on 26 March 1071.12 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla was a witness where Alberta (?) mentioned by name in a private charter by Sancho to the monastery of Arlanza on 10 May 1071.12 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla was a witness where Rodrigo Alvarez may be the person who confirmed two of the charters of Sancho II before 1072.9 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla siezed León from his brother Alfonso VI, who on their sister Urraca's urging he exiled, himself to rule, for a brief time, over all three kingdoms in 1072.13 He was a witness where Urraca Fernández de Castilla credited by the early sources with persuading Sancho II to allow Alfonso to go into exile in 1072.13 King of Castile, Galicia, and León at Spain in 1072.4,2 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla was a witness where Urraca Fernández de Castilla raised a rebellion against her brother Sancho on behalf of her exiled brother Alfonso before 6 October 1072.13 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla died on 6 October 1072 at cerca de Zamora, León, Spain. He was killed while besieging the rebel fortress-city of Zamora, held by his sister Urraca in Alfonso's name.2,5 Sancho II Fernández "el Fuerte", rey de Castilla was buried in the monastery of San Salvador de Oña, Castile.14
