Her 2nd (widow).5,7,2,8 Ælfthryth, Queen of the English was granted by her husband, King Edgar, 10 hides (mansae) at Aston Upthorpe in 964 at Berkshire, England.8 Queen of the English between 964 and 1002.9 She appeared in the will of Ælfheah, ealdorman, which read, in part, "... land at Scyræburnan to Queen Ælfthryth" between 968 and 971.10 She witnessed the death of Edward "the Martyr", King of the English on 18 March 979 at near Corfe Castle, Dorset, England; He died unmarried. He was murdered by members of his brother Æthelred's household. Burke's says he was murdered by his stepmother, Queen Elfrida.11,12 Ælfthryth, Queen of the English appears in a writ as "Ælfthryth (the king's mother) giving testimony concerning an estate at Ruishton, Somerset" in 995 at x 1002.13 She was granted, by her son, King Æthelred, 3.5 (sulunga) at Brabourne, 3.5 at Evegate, 2 at Burhwarefelda, 3 at Nackington, 3 at Chalk and 1 at Wirigenn (? Perry) in 996 at Kent.14 She appeared in the will of Ælfflæd, which read, in part "... [land] at Woodham, Essex, to Ælfthryth, the king's mother, for life, with reversion to St Mary's, Barking" in 1000.15 She died on 12 November 1002 at Wherwell, England, at age 57 years. He witnessed the will of Thegn Wulfric Spot of Mercia before 1002; Made a will giving his lands to his brother, son, and daughter. Ealdorman of Northumbria Ælfhelm of Mercia died in 1006. He was killed by Eadric Streona, who blinded his two sons. This murder prompted his daughter to have her husband, King Canute, execute Eadric.1 He was a witness where Eadric Streona, Ealdorman of Mercia killed Ælfhelm, ealdorman of Deira and brother of Wulfric Spot, and blinded his two sons in 1006.3,4
