FatherHåkon Grjótgardsson, Ladejarl1
MotherIngebjørg Haraldsdóttir
Governor of Möre Grjótgardr Håkonsson was the son of Håkon Grjótgardsson, Ladejarl and Ingebjørg Haraldsdóttir.1 Governor of Möre Grjótgardr Håkonsson was much younger than his brother Earl Sigurd of Hlader, and much less respected; in fact, was held in no title of honour, but he had many people about him, and in summer went on viking cruises, and gathered to himself property.2 He witnessed the death of Sigurdr Håkonsson, Ladejarl in 962 at Oglo; The earl usually had many people about him, for he did not trust the king; but now, after friendly messages had passed between the king and him, he had no great following of people with him. Then Grjotgard sent word to the king that he could never expect a better opportunity to fall upon Earl Sigurd; and immediately, that very evening, Harald and Erling sailed into Throndhjem fjord with several ships and many people. They sailed all night by starlight, and Grjotgard came out to meet them. Late in the night they came to Oglo, where Earl Sigurd was at the feast, and set fire to the house; and burnt the house, the earl, and all his men. Earl Sigurd was killed two years after the fall of King Hakon (A.D. 962).

So says Eyvind Skaldaspiller in the "Haleygjatal": --

"At Oglo. as I've heard, Earl Sigurd
Was burnt to death by Norway's lord, --
Sigurd, who once on Hadding's grave
A feast to Odin's ravens gave.
In Oglo's hall, amidst the feast,
When bowls went round and ale flowed fast,
He perished: Harald lit the fire
Which burnt to death the son of Tyr."2,3
Governor of Möre Grjótgardr Håkonsson was met by King Harald and his mother Gunnhilda and treated well, so much so that he agreed to betray his brother Sigurd in exchange for the earldom of Hlader.2 He died in 968. He was killed in battle against his nephew Hakon Sigurdsson.

So says Einar Skalaglam: --

"The helm-crown'd Hakon, brave as stout,
Again has put his foes to rout.
The bowl runs o'er with Odin's mead, (1)
That fires the skald when mighty deed
Has to be sung. Earl Hakon's sword,
In single combat, as I've heard,
Three sons of earls from this one fray
To dwell with Odin drove away."2
Governor at More in 968. He was a witness where Håkon Mikli Sigurdsson, Ladejarl learned of Kings Harald and Gudrods gathering an army in the eastern country and heading north for Throndhjem, collected men, and set out to More, where he plundered, and where his father's brother, Grjotgard, had the command and defence of the country on account of Gunhild's sons, and he met Grjotgard in battle and killed him in 968.2

Nikephoros II Phokas, basileus Rhomaiôn was related to Sophia Phokas; daughter of Leon Phokas and niece of emperor Nikephoros II Phokas.3 Nikephoros II Phokas, basileus Rhomaiôn was related to John I Tzimisces Kourkouas, basileus Rhomaiôn; a descendant of an aristocratic Armenian family, related through his mother to the general, and later emperor, Nicephorus II Phocas.4 Nikephoros II Phokas, basileus Rhomaiôn was the son of Bardas Phocas.5 He was called "The White Death of the Saracens".6 Nikephoros II Phokas, basileus Rhomaiôn also went by the name of "Bringer of Victory" Nicephorus = Bringer of Victory. He was no great statesman, but a general of staggering brilliance.6 He was born in 912 at Cappadocia, Byzantine Empire.2,5 He was the son of Bardas Phokas, caesar.1,2 Nikephoros II Phokas, basileus Rhomaiôn embraced a military career of arms and as a young patrician distinguished himself at his father's side in a war against the Hamdanid Arabs in the East before 954.2 He was named commander-in-chief of the armies of the East by the emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus, replacing his aging father Bardas between 954 and 955.5 He was the successor of Romanus II, basileus Rhomaiôn; Emperor.7,8 Nikephoros II Phokas, basileus Rhomaiôn was named commander of a wartime expedition to liberate Crete (which had been controlled by the Arabs ever since 826) by Emperor Romanus II. This enterprise mobilized the entire Byzantine fleet and close to 24,000 men. Nicephorus gained the island with the capture of Chandax on 7 March 961 at Chandax, now Iráklion, Crete. "In a general massacre, the inhumanity of which revealed his fierce nature, he broke all Arab resistance. Aided by the monks, among whom was Athanasius, his spiritual director and founder of the Greek Orthodox monastery on Mt. Athos, Nicephorus achieved the reconsolidation of Christianity. He then returned to Constantinople with 'Abd al-'Aziz, the last amir of Crete, as his captive. This exploit, sung by the poet Theodosius the Deacon, realized the Byzantine dream (after dozens had failed to liberate Crete) of imperial mastery of the eastern Mediterranean. Later, as emperor, Nicephorus could state proudly that he controlled the seas. By that time, however, he had recovered Cilicia and the island of Cyprus and had captured other Muslim naval bases."2 He attacked the Arabs of Cilicia and Syria, capturing more than 60 fortresses circa February 962.2 He claimed the throne after the death of Romanus II, but was rebuffed by the civil administration, upon which he withdrew to Cappadocia, where John Tzimisces proclaimed him emperor, with the support of the army, the aristocracy (of which the Phocas was one of the major families) and the Patriarch, in 963.6 Emperor at Byzantine Empire between 963 and 10 December 969.7,5 He was "obliged" by the imperial army, through the intermediation of John Tzimisces, Nicephorus' faithful lieutenant, to accept the crown, and to march on Constantinople, on 3 July 963 at Caesarea.2 He entered the imperil capital on 16 August 963.9 He acceded Nikephoros II Phokas, basileus Rhomaiôn on 16 August 963 at the Hagia Sophia, Constantinople, Byzantine Empire, as Emperor of the East. Crowned by the patriarch Polyeuctus..2 He married Theophano of Constantinople on 20 September 963; Her 2nd (widow).2,1,6 Nikephoros II Phokas, basileus Rhomaiôn died on 10 December 969 at the fortified palace of Boukoleion, Constantinople, Byzantine Empire, at age 57 years. During a night in December 969, he was killed there by former friends, guided by John Tzimisces and advised by Theophano. He was stabbed and decapitated, and his head was put on public display. His life was summed up in the phrase inscribed on his sarcophagus: "You conquered all but a woman."2,10,5 He was the predecessor of John I Tzimisces Kourkouas, basileus Rhomaiôn; Emperor.7,4
