In the beginning of his reign he may have prosecuted enquiries into our faith; but there seems no reason to doubt that, like the generality of Arabs in his day, he remained a Pagan, and that towards the end of his life he alternately protected and persecuted the Christians..4 He was the successor of King of al-Hirah Imru'u al-Qays III ibn al-Nu'man al-Hirahi; King of al-Hirah.4 King of al-Hirah at Mesene, Iraq, between 513 and 562.3,5,4 King of al-Hirah al-Mundhir III ibn al-Nu'man al-Hirahi married Hind bint Harith Banu Kinda, daughter of Harith ibn 'Amr Banu Kinda, before 525.4 King of al-Hirah al-Mundhir III ibn al-Nu'man al-Hirahi was deposed by Kobad before 531.6 He was restored by Nushirvan after 531.6 He represented the Lakhmids as they reached the height of their power at the 6th century AD.       Cunimund, King of the Gepidae was born say 517. He was the son of Turisind, King of the Gepidae.2 Cunimund, King of the Gepidae vainly demanded the return of his daughter, and was unwilling that she should marry the hated Langobard Alboin. War followed, in which at first the Langobards had the better, but finally they were defeated as the Gepidae had brought Justin II, who had succeeded Justinian over to their side. The result was that Rosemund was set free.1 He died in 567. Killed by Alboin of the Lombards in a bloody battle somewhere between the Theiss and the Danube rivers.2

King of al-Hirah 'Amr III ibn Hind al-Hirahi was patron of the pre-Islamic Arabic poetry of Tarafah and others associated with Al-Mu'allaqat ("The Suspended Odes").1 He was born circa 525. He was the son of King of al-Hirah al-Mundhir III ibn al-Nu'man al-Hirahi and Hind bint Harith Banu Kinda. King of al-Hirah 'Amr III ibn Hind al-Hirahi avenged the death of his father, by a fierce and instant attack upon the Ghassanide kingdom in 562.2 King of al-Hirah at Mesene, Iraq, between 562 and 574.1,3,2 He was dissatisfied at the discontinuance of a pension previously received by his father, sent an embassy of complaint to Constantinople; he was mortified by the incivility with which it was received, and again overran Syria with his armies.2 He also waged bloody wars with the Bani Tay and Bani Tamim, the latter of whom had murdered his brother. He died in 574. Traditionally held to have been killed by 'Amr ibn Kulthum, pre-Islamic Arab poet whose qasidah ("ode") is one of the seven that comprise the celebrated anthology of pre-Islamic verse al- Mu'allaqat, supposedly for an insult addressed to the poet's mother. "He met with his death, in a singular mode, highly illustrative of Arab manners. He had vaingloriously sworn that his own mother should be served by the mother of the haughtiest Arab in the land. At an appointed festival, the mother of Amr a warrior-poet of the Bani Taghlib, was invited into the tent of the prince's mother, who sought to entrap her into the apparently insignificant act of handing to her a dish. But the proud spirit of the Arab lady spurned the office, and resenting the affront she screamed aloud for help. Amr the poet sprang forward at his mother's call, and struck Amr the prince dead upon the spot."1,2
