King of the Thracians Oloros of Thracia1,2

King of the Thracians Oloros of Thracia died. He met his death, it is said, by violence, in Scapte Hyle, a district of Thrace.3 . His remains were brought into Attica where a monument is shown as his among those of the family of Cimon, near the tomb of Elpinice, Cimon's sister.3 Thucydides' father was named Olorus, a name not known as Athenian. Olorus was probably Thracian descent on his mother's side. He was related, somehow, to Miltiades who had married the daughter of a Thracian prince of this name. (Hegesipyle's father was Olorus. - rbs).1 He was the owner of the gold mines in Thrace.3
