On 2 February 1461 at Mortimer's Cross, Herefordshire, England.19 War of Roses - Lancaster defeats York. Queen Margaret led a force of northerners south to meet Warwick at St. Albans. Larger Lancastrian force attacks a Yorkist, weather, chance, and the later arrival of the Duke of Norfolk lead to a massacre of the Lancastrians. Warwick, now Lancastrian, routs the Yorkists and executed Pembroke and his brother, while commoners capture Devon at Bridgwater and murder him for his cowardice. In July 1469 at Edgecoat, England. War of Roses - York victory. Edward IV and the Yorkists defeat rebel sympathizers, and behead their leaders after hearing Warwick and Edward's brother, George Duke of Clarence, implicated. The losers to flee with such great haste, shed their coats. On 12 March 1470 at "Lose-Coat Field", Empingham, Rutland, England.61 War of Roses - York defeats Lancaster. Warwick, the Duke of Exeter, Earl of Oxford and Montagu, the Lancastrians faced Edward IV, Richard Duke of Gloucester and Lord Hastings, the Yorkists. The Lancastrians were winning until the battle became confused and the Earl of Oxford mistook Montagu's colors for those of Edward, and attacked him. The Lancastrians were defeated, Exeter died fighting, and Warwick died in the rout. On 14 April 1471 at Barnet, north of London,, Middlesex, England.62 War of the Roses - York defeats Lancaster. The Yorkists defeat the Lancastrians once and for all. Somerset, Wenlock, and Prince Edward all died, with many others. Queen Margaret retired to France.
