Benjamin LANGFORD and Martha "Patsy" PACE

This family information gleaned from post to Langford -L from J. Blaney and other online records

Husband: Benjamin Langford

LifeNotes: Benjamin Langford bought 218 acres in Mush Creek, a fork of the South Tygar River in Greenville District on Oct. 19, 1805.

On March 12, 1807, Benjamin Langford bought 15 acres adjoining his and brother-in-law Stephen Pace's property.

1810 census for Greenvile SC shows Benjamin & Patsy Langford with 3 daughters, living next door to Matthew & Peggy Langford.

The family moved to Jackson Co., AL before 1819. On August 4, 1820, Ben Langford commissioned as Justice of the Peace in Jackson Co., AL. On March 3, 1823, Ben recommissioned as JP in Jackson Co., AL.

The family went to Pope Co., AR in 1830. Two sons-in-law John Price and John Ridge were paying taxes in Crawford Co., Territory of Arkansas in 1829. On Nov. 5, 1831, Ben was commissioned as a Magistrate of Pope Co., AR and recommissioned on Nov. 12, 1833 aand on Oct. 27, 1835.

On Sept. 12, 1835 Ben Langford and others sign petition to Congress for postal route. Ben Langford was county judge of Pope Co., AR from 1836- 1838.

In the 1830s, Ben Langford bought a farm from an Indian on the Illinois Bayou, north of where Scottsville is.

In 1836 , after Arkansas became a state, Ben Langford was commissioned to be one the agents to make plans to build a town and make it a permanent seat of justice in Pope Co. This town was Dover that thrived until the Civil War.

On Aug. 8, 1840, Ben Langford made application to be appointed admistrator of John Ridge estate. Ben Langford still performing marriages in Pope Co., AR in 1842.

Died: On July 31, 1844, executors of Ben's estate executed his will. They were son--in-law Robert S. Bewley, John P. Langford and Robert B. Langford. On August 10, 1844 - Ben's will was probated.
