Celebrating Ten Centuries of Clopton History

The Clopton Family Genealogical Society is dedicated to the purpose of compiling, documenting, preserving and sharing accurate genealogical and historical information regarding the Clopton family.  The Society is not about newsletters, dues, reunions, or chat rooms; we shall leave those noble endeavors to others.

The Clopton Chronicles, The Ancestors and Descendants of Sir Thomas Clopton, Knt. & Dame Katherine Mylde, a project of the Society, represents the first major update of the Clopton family history since Lucy Lane Erwin’s 1939 genealogy, The Ancestry of William Clopton of York County, Virginia.  The Clopton Chronicles is a collection of lengthy essays and genealogies published at this site after they are released to our members.  Each essay is well researched and extensively documented.

If you would like to join us at absolutely no cost, just contact [email protected].  You will be placed on our mailing list and receive notice of new stories and updates to previously published material.  By joining the Society you will also be eligible to receive photographs, shields of arms, and other graphics to illustrate your own personal family heritage book.

The essays are filled with entertaining stories about their kith, kin, and kissin’ cousins through the centuries.  The essays and genealogies may be downloaded from this site at no charge and freely copied and distributed for non-commercial use by individuals and organizations.  We ask only three things of you:  respect our copyright, share the essays with those who don’t have access to a computer, and submit your stories to be included in this important project.

Make sure you stop by The Critic’s Corner and read what people are saying – and asking - about The Clopton Chronicles, and do check out Mysterious Cloptons  and  Clopton Links In Cyberspace while you are in the neighborhood.  Whether you plan to visit England or just want to know a little more about our ancestors, visit A Self Guided Tour of Dead Cloptons.  And don’t miss our newest addition, the Clopton Family Album.
