1. WILLIAM1 GLENDINNING was born Abt. 1780 in Dumfriesshire Scotland, and died in Galloway, Kent Co. N.B., Canada. He married MARY.

Notes for WILLIAM GLENDINNING: In 1820 a group of Scotch settlers arrived at the port of Richibucto. These included: William Glendenning, Matthew Murray, John Murray, John Foster, William Smith, John Wilson and James Little and on March 12, 1821 this group of settlers petitioned for three remaining tracts of land in the Galloway settlement. On August 18, 1821 William Glendenning petitioned on behalf of his son James, his oldest boy who was then 20 years of age for tract number 2 - 100 acres. This petition was not approved and has a notation by the surveyor general "cannot be complied with". Seven years later on Grant 2750, Province of New Brunswick, James Little and associates were granted three tracts of land situate in the parish of Liverpool and County of Kent containing one thousand acres more or less. Grant to divided into six lots: James Little 200 acres, William Glendinning 200 acres, John Glendinning 100 acres, James Glendinning 100 acres, James Beattie 200 acres and William Murray 200 acres. These early 13 families from Scotland founded the settlement of Galloway in the County of Kent in the Province of New Brunswick. 1817: Samuel Girvan, James McClellan, Anthony McNarin, William McNarin, John Scott, James Mitchell and Robert McAlmon. 1820: William Glendinning, Matthew Murray, John Murray, John Fost, William Smith, John Wilson, and James Little. William is buried at Galloway Cemetery, Galloway, Kent Co., N.B., Canada.
