                                      ARDKEEN GRAVEYARD

This cemetery is on the souhern slope of a hill projecting as a peninsula into Strangford Lough in the townland and parish of Ardkeen. It is approached through impressive gates and along a track skirting an inlet known as the Dorn. On the top of the hill stands the old motte and later castle of the Savage family as a conspicious silhouette against the sky. The gates are to the west of the main Portaferry road 4 miles south of Kirkubbin opposite the junction with a road leading to Cloghy.

The stones are widely scattered throughout with few burials of this century (20th) and all have been copied.

                         ARDGLASS GRAVEYARD

This cemetery is on Kildare Street in the town and parish of Ardglass. The town originated with the Anglo-Normans and there was certainly a church on the site in 1306. The present parish church was built in 1810-13 on the  original site but the records which dated from this earlier period were destroyed in Dublin so all the registers date from after civil registration began.

The graveyard is in good condition having been cleared in 1967, some railings removed and some buried stones brought to light.
