Here is a brief outline of my son's 8th grade course of study (2006).

Year 8B (semester 2)
Bible English History & Geography

Daily Bible reading and prayer  along with reading C.S. Lewis' book, Mere Christianity.

Grammar and Writing instruction will include weekly essays, beginning of Jensen's Format Writing (paragraphs only), and weekly review of basic grammar (parts of speech) using Easy Grammar Plus.

Poetry instruction using Roar on the Other Side by Suzanne Clark.

World War II is our focus for the second semester of Year 8.  We will be reading a number of non-fiction and living books as well as watch several History Channel DVD broadcasts.  See our reading list here!
Math Science Foreign Language
We will use CIMT's MEP Math for Year 9A.  Physical Science We will be studying Physical Science using the A Beka's Science of the Physical Creation, various science lab projects and PBS/Nova DVDs.  This will be our second year studying French using Rosetta Stone (level I).

 

Art & Music Computers and Technology  
We will study music and art as part of our History/Literature Unit.  Visual Basic Applications
