ELAM REUNIONS

There will be numerous Elam reunions held this summer. If you were able to attend any of them, please drop me a line with your comments, any good information you picked up, interesting family stores, etc. Also, if you took any photographs, I would very much like to scan them and create a page where everyone can share them.

The Nickels - Elam Family reunion is 10 June 2001. A block of rooms have been reserved at the Sleep Inn Motal, 200 Hospitality Place, Kingsport, TN. Phone (423) 279-1811 or fax (423) 279-0877. The rooms will be released if not booked by June 3. The special room rate is $50 plus tax. You must mention the reunion to get the discount. A hospitatlity room will be available on June 9 from 1:00 - 11:00 p.m. The actual reunion will be held at the Twin Springs High School, near Nickelsville, VA on June 13.

The reunion of the families of John Henry Elam will be held at Clarke State Park (the first weekend in June, 2001. Clark County State Park is just off US Hwy 45 in Clarke Co., MS, between Meridian and Quitman. Herman Belcher supplied this information. ELAM FAMILY REUNION 2001

The reunion will be in the Emanuel Building this year. Last year we met at the larger B.J. Clark Bldg. Please bring a dish for our traditional meal. We will eat at about 1:00 p.m. The program will focus on the senior members of the Elam family.

Seniors Ages 65 and Up

Please bring some family history and Memories - either written down or presented orally at the reunion. Share important dates and events in your life with us. Bring family pictures and mementos. Last year's program was great thanks to Henry Culwell and Vemon Williams. The video of 'the history of the Elam family was wonderful. I HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED INFORMATION ON THE FOLLOWING REUNIONS, BUT THEY ARE USUALLY HELD ANNUALLY. THE DATES WILL BE INCORRECT, BUT CHANCES ARE THEY WILL BE HELD AT APPROXIMATELY THE SAME TIMES.

There is a family reunion of Elams each year in Lexington, KY on the Sunday before Labor Day. It has been going on since 1938. It was started by either Shelby S. Elam or some of his brothers. If anyone has any further details, please drop me a line so that I can publish them here.

Jack Elam (of "The Elams Then and Now" fame) wrote me that the descendents of Marion and Elizabeth Ward Elam for the last 12+ years have had a reunion in Rowan County, Kentucky. It is on the Saturday after Labor Day. It is at the Tailwater Park at Cave Run Dam. Since Marion was Jack's grandfather, he's always there. The food is good too!! This park is on Highway 801 near the little town of Farmers, Kentucky.

The Kentucky Elam Reunion is held the second Saturday and Sunday in October annually at the Elam Cemetary in Wheel Rim of Johnson Fork, Kentucky (Morgan County).

All Elams are invited to the 36th Annual Elam Reunion for descendants of Anderson Elam and any other Elams who care to sit around and get stuffed on delicious food which only Elams can produce, discuss Elams in general and admire any new babies who show up. It is usually held the second Sunday in October. Update to follow.

The twenty-fifth annual reunion of Earl Elam's branch of the Elam Family will be in Thousand Oaks,.CA, Thousand Oaks Inn, June 11-13, 1999. This branch consists of descendants of William Elam (c. 1734-1809) of Charlotte Co. VA and Edgefield Co. SC, down through John H. Elam (1863-1938) and siblings. Elam's children and cousins in Texas in the 1970s and now includes descendants of William in Georgia, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Texas, and elsewhere.
