Y2K reunion - August 20, 2000

The 111th Reunion of the descendants of Cornelius Davis, 2nd will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2008*. The group will meet at noon at the American Legion Hall, 3 Monson Rd. (just north of the intersection of Rtes. 32 and 190), Stafford Springs, Connecticut. As always, the pot luck luncheon will begin at 1:00 pm followed by a meeting with the election of officers for '09. And, of course, we'll have the traditional bean jar! Guess the number of beans and you win a prize! We'll also have awards for the youngest, the oldest, the family member having come the greatest distance, and the family with the most members present.

We would like to know who will be coming by August 3, 2008, so that we may plan accordingly. The American Legion facilities ensure that we will have enough shelter, tables, and chairs for all. But for planning purposes, please help by notifying us by the deadline. Plates, cups, napkins, and beverages will be provided by the Reunion Committee.

Distance and other reasons will prevent many members from attending. We would still like to hear from you with vital information, address changes, and addresses of family members who may not be on the mailing list or changes to be made to the Family Tree.

Expenses for the Reunion are financed by a "free will" collection taken during the meeting and by generous donations received by mail.

As always, The Family Tree and the Davis Family Genealogy will be on display. These represent the on-going efforts of family members who continue to update the records of the Davis family.

Come join us as we reunite in historic Stafford, CT, originally settled by Cornelius Davis, 2nd.

*Davis Family Reunions have been held annually on the 3rd Sunday in August, except for a few years during World War II, starting in the late 1890s.

Directions

From Hartford: I-91 N to Exit 47-W, Rte. 190. Follow 190 about 15 miles to Stafford Springs. Turn left (north) at the intersection of Rte. 32. The American Legion Hall is about 500 feet on the left.

From Springfield, MA: I-91 S to Connecticut to Exit 47-W. Same as above.

From Worcester or Boston, MA: Mass Pike (I-90) west to Exit 9, then I-84 south to Connecticut. Exit Rte. 190, turn right, travel west about 12 miles to Stafford Springs. Continue through town (west) on Rte. 190. DO NOT turn left (south) on Rte. 32 in the center of Stafford Springs! About 2 miles west of the center of town, Turn right onto Rte. 32 (north) to the American Legion Hall.
