I'm researching the family of my gg-grandfather, Christoph George FUERST, and have found in several records that he was born in Norwalk, Huron County, Ohio in approximately 1841. He was in the 1870 census living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his wife Mary WAGONER/WAGNER and children. His first child was born in 1862 in Milwaukee. There has not been a marriage or death record found in Wisconsin or Illinois for him, but he did die some time between 1871, when his last child was born, and 1880, when Mary stated she was a widow. The surname FUERST has several alternative spellings. I've found it as FIRST, FURST, FARST and possibly FUERSTER. I did find FUERSTs in Norwalk, but nothing for a Christoph, George, or C.G., which he also went by, nor very much in the 1840-1860 time frame. Hoping someone more familiar with this area might be able to help find a lead on his parents and siblings or a connection to another FUERST researcher in the area.

Gloria Ishida Lookup Results--Maybe Andrew Waber will come in on this as he and I are researching the PATTON family and he has this on the CARRs. Thomas CARR was born in Pennsylvania, 1811. They were first in Stark County with the PATTONs so perhaps came from the same area in Pennsylvania. Thomas CARR married Phoebe PATTON, in Saltlick Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, Phoebe's parents were James and Rachel PATTON, my ggg grandparents, another daughter was my gg grandmother Francis who married Peter BAUER II. The CARRs and the PATTONs first came to New Haven township after residing in Stark County. Andrew and I have not been able to find the birthplace of James PATTON in Ireland, born 1773. I wonder if "Tyrone" might be a clue. Where did you get that? James is buried in St. Alphonsus Churchyard and at least some of the CARRs were members there. Have you researched the St. Alphonsus' records that are online at familysearch? I have a book coming from Pennsylvania in a couple weeks that might give more and also I have to check in my files information in Stark County.

Andrew Waber Lookup Results--Kind of piggy backing off what Gloria wrote you can view what I have here- http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=waberfritz&id=I15281. I should also add that James Davis PATTON also married a CARR; Elizabeth CARR, possibly related to Thomas CARR.

Gloria Ishida Lookup Results--It would be easier to help you if you know the regiment number. Then you could google for Huron County Regiments. There is a lot of history for the various regiments. I have ancestors who served both in Huron County and Sandusky County Regiments. And more about Jacob RUSH living in Huron County; I could not find him in censuses in Huron County. The below is a good source but no Company L listed. https://www.familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Huron_County,_Ohio#Military In the following you will find a Jacob RUSH in the Ohio 3rd Cavalry Company L, this was Erie County. He lived on Kelly's Island. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~thirdovc/roster.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cahaba_Prison He was a prisoner there and the date the prisoner exchange took place in Vicksburg in April, 1865 so his discharge would fit. Well, he may not be yours but it is fascinating.
