Barb, Do you have any information on a Paul John NAHM born in the early 1900's? He was married to a Thelma Louise THOMPSON. These would be the parents of my husbands step-father's first wife, Violet "Vi" Ann NAHM.

Barbara Fleshman Look Up Results - The only thing I know is what I've seen on the SSDI. Born 6 Nov 1904, died Feb 1974 in Lorain. I've never looked at that branch in the census. My grandfather, George D. NAHM, was born in Fremont. I have some material from Mary Louise Soisson in Norwalk, but don't remember seeing that name. I was able to get the 1888 Sketchbook that was advertised on Ebay, done by Fred NAHM in Norwalk.

Gloria Ishida Look Up Results-- George could well be a brother of the two small siblings who died of scarlet fever in 1850 or a cousin. From Family Search Labs- Death certificates show Parents of George Washington WELLS, born in Norwalk, Feb. 15, 1852 were William W. WELLS, born Vermont and Elizabeth STREETER, born in Norwalk. George died in Cleveland, but buried in Norwalk. I am no longer subscribed to Ancestry.com but I suggest that someone might check the 1850 and 1860 censuses for William and see if children's names match. Since Fonce and George died in September they should be on the 1850 census. If George W. is a brother born in 1852, the parents may have followed an old custom of naming a child after a deceased one. One could also check through all Norwalk 1850 census records for WELLS; time consuming but the answer would be there.

Yes, William Washington WELLS is descended from my James WELLS and Persis Earle .. But, not the right son, George, as this one died Sep 1850 at age of 5.

Doug Smith Look Up Results-- I found the death certificate for William E. WELLS, b. 6 Jun 1850. He was the older brother of George Washington WELLS, b. 15 Feb 1852. I believe William E. WELLS' death certificate proves that William W. and Elizabeth (STREETER/STREATER) WELLS wasn't Fonce's parents. Fonce was born abt. Mar 1850 and William was born 6 Jun 1850 (about three months later). I'm going to send you a copy (jpeg Image) of William E. Wells' death certificate in a separate E-mail. I hope the info helps.

I do think Fonce and George who died in Sep 1850 in Norwalk are related to my family (not direct) as my direct son of James and Persis, is James Fones WELLS b: 1814 in NY. He married a Sarah HOLMES in Monroeville 13 Feb 1844 and promptly deserted her (no children)and went to PA to marry(?) a widow, Mrs. Henry Cobaugh (Mary WATERS) in Clarion Co. or Jefferson Co., PA. I found in the Norwalk newspaper that Sarah filed for divorce 02 Jul 1850 (don't have the actual divorce papers) Other brother's of James Fones and William Washington WELLS are: Francis James WELLS of Lorain Co., Justus O WELLS, Charles K WELLS and a James Wells b: 07 Feb 1828 d: 1887 (no information on the latter) except he is buried in Norwalk. I believe little Fonce and George are son's of one of these brothers. I am surprised at the birth date of William Eugene as the 21 Jul 1850 census does not have him listed .. So I assumed he was born after 21 Jul.

I just got to look at the actual schedule for the 1850 mortality census. The Mortality Index states the children died Sep 1850 .. However, the actual schedule states Fonce and George WELLS died Sept 1849 at the age of 6 months and 5 years ... So, Calculated birthdates would be- Fonce WELLS b: c Mar 1849, age 6 months, d: Sep 1849 George WELLS b: c 1844, age 5, d: Sep 1849.

Jessie Deith Look Up Results-- You might want to look at the WELLS listed in the Huron county cemetery book. Burials for Norwalk township are on pages 461 to 703. People buried together are listed together, such as George, and George R. and Emily E. Dennison and H. and Willie Amherst are all listed on 468 so probably are one family. James on 572 would be a different cemetery or section of a large cemetery, so would be from a different family. When you have it narrowed down to just a few, then ask someone who has the cemetery book to look at what the inscriptions say. Might or might not help.

As a correction to this ... Mortality Census was deaths in the previous year up to June 1st 1850. Actual schedule shows children died in Sep 1849 so George and Fonce will not show up on the 1850 census. I have already gotten all the WELLS in the Huron Cemetery book ... I was trying to piece together all the families in case James WELLS (1792-1870) had a brother in the area. I know I would have jumped on a Fonce.
