Tom Neel Lookup Results-- To add to Dianne's reply, Amaziah TREAT, b. 12 Apr 1790 Alford MA; died possibly Spring 1819 Illinois; m. 17 Sep 1809 Sally COLVIN, daughter of Rufus COLVIN of Mendon NY. My guess is that Diadema COLVIN might be the wife of Rufus. Sally COLVIN TREAT returned to Mendon after her husband died. I believe that the children of Amaziah and Sally (Colvin) TREAT were Sarah, Cornelius Mortimer, Charlotte Adeline, and Diadema. My reference is a typed document called "The TREAT Family Bicentennial 1793-1976" that was sent to me by Patricia TREAT of Honeoye Falls NY in January 1983. She may be the author. I have additional correspondence, April 1983, from John Kulbeth of Fremont CA, who believed that Amaziah TREAT did indeed head for White Co IL in the Spring of 1819, but did not die. He married 10 Jul 1824 White Co IL to Elizabeth Kulbeth, a 15 year old girl. He served as postmaster at Kendal, Wayne Co IL from 15 Jul 1837 to 20 Feb 1838. Cornelius TREAT (Amaziah's father) and his brother Ebenezer TREAT lived just down the road from the Butterfield Cemetery, coming to New London from Mendon NY, if I don't have my names mixed up. Sally (COLVIN) TREAT supposedly lived with her father-in-law's family in NY after Amaziah left, which might have been a reason for Diadema COLVIN to have been in New London OH when she died, if she is indeed the mother of Sally. I believe I was told that Sally died in Mendon, but that her children lived with grandfather Cornelius Treat here in New London. If you need copies of any of this stuff, please contact me off list.

Gloria Ishida Look Up Results - Various BOISEs" are mentioned in earlier books, Adeline Wright's "Pioneers Progress: The First 25 Years ....", and Bernice Mittowers "the world Grows Smaller: The Second Twenty-Five ...." Wright wrote quite a bit on Dolly BOISE and Stephen RUSSELL, who had five children. Stephen was Zadoc STRONG's (brought his bride from Homer, New York - see below)stepson. He was 17 in 1814. There is mention of a Levitt BOISE and Lyman STRONG starting a store in 1827 across from Stephen Russell's tavern at the "four corners." This and related info comes from Nov. 1859 Firelands Pioneer. Mittower mentioned several BOISEs joining Lyme Church in the 1850's. Haven't caught a mention of Chester though. Chester does come up on ancestry.com "family trees" along with spouse and children; the person submitting info is not listed though. Chester BOISE, born 2 Oct. 1788 in Blanford MA, Hampshire County. Died Aug. 1856 In Huron Co, Ohio. Spouse Roxa Ann TODD (b March 12, 1795). Married in Homer, NY, 21 April 1813. Eight children listed, nothing that resembles "Dolly". Could be a nickname but only one's birth date represents a logical match.

Many months ago I requested a lookup through RAOK for two marriage license look ups for Huron County, Ohio but never got a response. This is the first request I have made to RAOK and do not know if the request would be acknowledged if it cannot be accomplished? However, I have never had any response. I was told that Huron County marriage records are listed alphabetically. I need a record of a marriage license where I only have an estimate of the year it was obtained. There are two grooms, but the bride's names are not known. I desperately need the bride's names and that of their parents. Other Ohio marriage license records I have obtained included this information. Is there anyone with information about obtaining marriage record file numbers in Huron County? I would send for a copy of the license if I can find the record file number since I do not live in Ohio.

I know Julius C. BEMENT was a Civil War soldier from Huron Ohio in 1861-1862 for 3 months & that his daughter listed him as deceased on her marriage certificate in 1886. However, I don't know what happened to him, or his date of death. He was originally from Groton, Tompkins Co, New York, had a wife & 5 children, was a lecturer & traveled the country. In 1857, he married a Charlotte JOHNSON in Huron Co, Ohio & then in 1860 was in the Ohio State Pen for bigamy. He then was a Civil War soldier for 3 months 1861-March 1862, discharged for medical reasons & nothing more known of him. I would like to know where he was buried, & his date of death.

Hopefully there might be something in the Lyme Twp Book on John MILLER, his wife Mary or son-in-law Abraham LEITER. There is a son Joseph in the 1860 census & he could have possibly died in the Civil War. Since the name is so common I haven't gotten anywhere with John & Mary. They are buried in the Bellevue Cemetery next to Abraham LEITER & wife Mary but no Joseph.

Researcher: Frances Van Scoy

Date posted: Thursday, February 23, 2006

The Firelands Pioneer has the following article,1896-125 pp. 125-126. MRS. Orpha CURRAN, wife of John CURRAN, died at Tiffin, February 24, 1896, in the 76th year of her life. She was the daughter of Brandage [sic, should be Brundage] KNAPP, who came to Huron county in 1828 and settled in Greenwich township. Mrs. CURRAN was born in West Chester county, New York, and came with her parents to Ohio when she was eleven years old. She was married and a widow three times and was the mother of three children, one son and two daughters. The son died at the age of thirteen years. The daughters, Mrs. E. D. PARKER, of Tiffin, and Mrs. R. B. KING, of Norwalk, are left. --end article-- According to family reunion records, Orpha KNAPP married (1) William SISSON (2) Daniel FARLEY (3)____ CURRAN. Her daughters were Esther and Corinne FARLEY. The reunion records say that Ester married King CURRIN and Corinne married E. D. PARKER. Based on the above obituary for her mother I suspect that Esther married a man named Currin KING (or similar) rather than King CURRIN. (Or, maybe someone confused the name of Esther's husband and the name of her sister.) I'm looking for information about the R. B. KING of Norwalk in Orpha CURRAN's obituary to determine whether he married Esther FARLEY and whether they had children.

Rodney KING, 33; Ester, 33; Lena, 9; Theodor, 2. 1900, Ohio, Huron, Norwalk. Rodney B. KING, 52; Ester, 53; Louis, 16; Corrinne, 10. 1910, Ohio, Huron, Norwalk. Rodney KING 62. 1920, Ohio, Huron, Norwalk. Rodney B. KING, 72. Living next door are Elmer D. PARKER, 58; Corrine PARKER, wife, 62; Corrine KING, niece, 30. So, I think I've found 4 children for Rodney B KING and Ester FARLEY- Lena, b abt 1871; Theodore, b abt 1878; Louis, b abt 1884; Corrine, b abt 1890.
