I have an ancestor that died in New Haven, Ohio and was buried in Maplegrove Cemetery. The only problem is, there are two New Haven Ohio's; one in Huron Co and the other in Hamilton Co. Supposedly this ancestor, Kelley BRADLEY, was buried in Maplegrove Cemetery Oct 23, 1978. Does anyone know if there is a Maplegrove Cemetery in Huron Co?

I first posted this query in March 2001. Since then I have new information but still the same queries. Looking for any relatives, mother, father, brothers, sisters, nieces or nephews, also where Edward & Anna were born, city and country. I have records with Edward being born in Ireland and Anna being born in Ireland and Canada. My Great-grandfather Edward RYAN was born in Ireland 19 Feb 1842. He came to USA and as a young man joined the Army in St. Louis, MO. He entered CO. 'E' 8th Missouri, American Zouaves, April 7th 1862. He was wounded at the battle of Shiloh, his right arm was fractured by a shell and was treated at Corinth. He was in this Regiment till about 1863, when he went home having no discharge. He stayed at home till 01 Sept 1864, when he reentered the Army in Ohio. He joined the Ohio Volunteer Infantry 25th Regiment Co. 'E', under assumed name of Edwin HINDS. 30 Nov 1864 at the battle of Honey Hill, South Carolina, received gun shot wounds to the left side and right shoulder. He was treated at the General Hospital in Hilton, SC where he stayed for 2 months. Edward RYAN alias Edwin HINDS was honorably discharged 15 Jul 1865 from Charleston, SC. His records states he was 5'8" tall with dark completion, dark hair and light eyes. His occupation before the war was blacksmith. He lived in Norwalk, Huron County, Ohio before and after the war, where he was married to Anna WATTERS by Rev. Fr. Thomas Thorpe.

I would appreciate cemetery inscriptions lookups for- FROST Irene, 397 JB, 397 Jessie B, 397 I've found an Irena FROST in New Haven in the 1850 federal census with a child whose name and age (William H., 12) match a known ancestor. The 1840 census shows a Serena FROST with a child under 5, also in New Haven. The 1840 census also shows two young males living in the household. The 1830 census indicates there was a J.B. FROST in New Huron with a female and two male children in the right age categories. My great-aunt (Margaret NICELY) has indicated that William's father was Jesse B. Since these are the only FROST's in New Huron/Haven listed in each census, my assumption now is that it is one family and Jesse died prior to the 1840 census. I'm hoping that any of the three FROST headstones are close to the dates I'm looking for. Although I haven't seen it, the History of Huron and Erie Counties, Ohio by W.W. Williams -1879, p. 303 indicates that there were eighty-six householders in New Haven Twp. in 1826. Under School District No. 2 is the name of Jesse B. FROST. The 1850 census also indicates Irena was born in Connecticut. In the 1790 - 1820 census, Connecticut is one of the two states where there was a Jesse FROST listed. I realize that none of this is conclusive, however, it is a start.

I wondered if you could do a lookup for me? My ancestor is Peter NESBITT b.11 July 1804 Bedford Co. PA. He was married to Catherine BAER. They were in the 1850 census Huron Co. which I found online on your site and was so glad for that, as I didn't know the names of their children, except my line (dau. Mary Elizabeth b.1847 Huron Co.) I would like to know when Peter NESBITT died and where he is buried. It would be after 1850 sometime. I don't know if he was still there in the 1860 census or later ones, because I haven't been able to check that. I believe that he raised his family in Huron Co. though. My family notes just say they lived near Plymouth, so not sure what township. Peter and Catherine had 6 boys and then my Mary and then 1 girl who died very young. So if you could check cemetery books I would be so appreciative.

Looking for dates for Margaret/Marietta (ADAMS) RUMSEY b.c.1839 NY who was living in Fitchville Huron Co. OH in 1867 when her grandfather died. In the cemetery list I see a Margaret RUMSEY who might be her. For those researching her, she was born in Putnam/Westchester Co. NY and her family moved to Yates Co. NY about 1840. The rest of the family lived and died in Yates. She was the daughter of Isaac ADAMS and Angeline RICHARDS of Putnam Co.

I would like to ask if you would check the cemetery book for dates on a Eunice A. COLE, page 566, and Louisa E. CHANNING (nee COLE) also on page 566. In addition, there is a G. W. COLE and an O. F. COLE in the listings. Eunice had a son George and a son Orrin, but I don't know the middle initials of either. I noticed in a city directory there was an O. F. COLE who was a blacksmith in Huron county in the 1870's; may or may not be Orrin. Anyway, G. W. is also on page 566 while O. F. is on page 398.
