I was just reading through the histories of Huron County's townships on the website and I noticed that Rundel PALMER, Seeley PALMER, Samuel PALMER, Alvah PALMER, Linus PALMER and Abijah PALMER all came to Fitchville Township in 1818. Anybody know how they are related to each other? Do you know if all these boys had a sister? I have an Amy PALMER (m. Hiram REYNOLDS of Greenwich, CT and Westchester, NY) born 12 Jul 1793. Since Hiram and Amy came to Fitchville in the late 1820s or early 1830s, I thought there might be a connection. I've been collecting PALMERs in a "cast the net" search for Amy's parents.

Tom Neel Look Up Results - Abijah PALMER, father not listed but think he was a brother of Samuel P. PALMER, b. 11 Apr 1773-74 Greenwich, Fairfield Co CT; wf Clarinda REYNOLDS. Alvah PALMER, son of Samuel P. PALMER & Amy RUNDLE, b. 1 May 1794 Greenwich, Fairfield Co CT; not married. Linus PALMER, son of Samuel P. PALMER & Amy RUNDLE, b. 7 Jun 1802; wf Jemima ROWLAND. Rundle PALMER, son of Samuel P. PALMER & Amy RUNDLE, b. 1786 Greenwich, Fairfield Co CT; wf Julia BRISCO; wf Clarinda BRISCO. Samuel PALMER, think son of Samuel P. PALMER & Amy RUNDLE, wf Eliza Olive CURTISS; wf Anna P. LYON. Seeley PALMER, son of Samuel P. PALMER & Amy RUNDLE, b. 24 Nov 1797 Greenwich, Fairfield Co CT; wf. Nancy Abigail POST. This is from the book, Carved Out of the Wilderness, by the late Paula Porter Griffin (1989), pp. 196-200. The Samuel PALMER home still stands on the south side of Rt 162 on the east side of Fitchville between Rt 13 and Rt 250 - impressive home. The Seeley PALMER home still stands on the north side of Rt 162 a half mile east of Fitchville - is cared for at present. The Rundle PALMER home still stands in Fitchville on the west side of Rt 13, south side of Crescent Road on the corner - just south of the restaurant. It is in very poor shape. I'm not sure about homes for Abijah, Alvah, and Linus. The home of William PALMER, another brother, still stands on Fayette Road, Fitchville Twp., according to the book, but I'm not familiar with it. In Paula Griffin's book on Fitchville, p. 199, she does list a daughter Amy for Samuel P. PALMER, the father of all those Palmers, but she has "born and died in 1804." She mentions Hiram REYNOLDS in the book but never identifies his wife Amy as a PALMER. I think Amy died around 1861 or so. Not many of Paula's Fitchville Township files are with her collection at the New London Public Library. She had not given those up prior to her death and I think family members kept them - Johnnie Porter or Chris Porter in Fitchville might know. She had several thick PALMER family genealogy files. She may or may not have identified the right Amy.

I'm am interested in a lookup from the Huron County Cemetery Inscriptions book. The person of interest is listed in the online index as GIBSON, Lenora, 676. If this is the right Lenora, she was born in 1870 and reportedly died in 1904 or 1905 and was buried around Wakeman, according to her son, Carl (my grandfather) -- who was only 4 or 5 yrs old at the time.

Mary FISHER did come to the US with two brothers actually. I found their passenger list. The other brother was Anthony FISHER who married Stephany's sister, Josephine REMLEY. I was hoping that my research was correct about Mary marrying Philip BARMAN. I am related to these two families through another sister Blondina REMLEY who married Michael GIES. The Anthony REMLEY family is renown due to Josephine giving birth to the first set of triplets in 1860. Unfortunately she and the triplets all died within hours of the birth. Josephine was a twin with Rosina REMLY FRY wife of Jack FRY. There are multible births in all generations of descendant of both of these ladies.

Is anyone researching the surnames of CHAPIN and ROOT in Huron Co., Ohio? I know that there were families of both surnames in Huron County in 1840. I believe my CHAPIN ancestors may have been among them. Mine, originally form MA, came to the US from Canada in 1840. They may possibly have had relatives already in OH and some that remained there after they moved on. I find the record of a marriage for Harriet CHAPIN to Roland ROOT on May 9, 1837. Maybe just coincidence, but this couple is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater, MI which is very near where my CHAPINs ended up. Harriet is of an age that she could fit in nicely with the family I am researching. This from Cemetery records- Harriet H. CHAPIN (12-24-1818 to 8-11-1855) married to Roland ROOT. I have this marriage record ... anyone know about these people? CHAPIN, Gordon Spouse - HAKES, Maria. Marriage date - Oct 24, 1845. County of record - Huron Co. Sex - M. I have this from the index to the Huron County 1840 census. 1840 Census Huron County, OH. CHAPIN, Alex, p. 395, Hartland Twp; CHAPIN, Henry, p. 443, Norwalk Twp; CHAPIN, L.B., p. 406, Ridgefield Twp; CHAPIN, Morris, p. 395, Hartland Twp; CHAPIN, Selah, p. 406, Ridgefield Twp. Does anyone have access to the actual census? I would love to see where these persons were born and who was living in the same household. If you know anything about the CHAPIN or ROOT family I would like to hear from you.

There have been a large number of messages indicating that a lot of folks moved from Huron Co to MI, particularily around the Coldwater area. I have not been able to pick out a timeframe for the move, nor a reason why they moved. My GGGrandparents Rufus LOVE and Clarissa BOWERS LOVE disappeared from Norwalk after the 1840 census. The only indication that they might have gone to MI is that their 15 year old daughter Elmira, married 34 year old Jared SMITH in Monroe Co MI in 1848. (There is no record of this marriage in Monroe Co - this comes from a Civil War Widow's Pension application Elmira submitted in 1881.) I have only discovered names for two of Rufus and Clarissa's children , my GGGranny Elmira and her sister Mary Elizabeth. As of the 1840 Huron Co census they had only one male child 10-15 years old, plus 2 more girls. Does anyone recognize these folks?

Thank you, Ruth and Robin for bringing my Mary FISHER to reality! Dear Ruth, where did you find the passenger list? What does it say? How can I access this information? Aside from wanting to verify Mary, I am curious as to how all my German ancestors arrived in Huron Co. I have been unable (after a very limited search) to learn how all these Germans got here. Sandusky? Buffalo? NY/NJ? Canada? I haven't a clue. As to the marriage of Mary Ann FISHER and Philipp BAERMANN, there is an entry in the Ancestral File at FamilySearch.com and they are also listed in the Huron County Cemetery Inscriptions Index. These are my great, great, great grandparents. Robin and Ruth, it seems we are all related. But poor Nellie FISHER ADELMAN. I feel I must be related to her somehow (by marriage)--on the Fisher side or the ADELMAN side or both. Her name was one of the first that I wrote down when I began this internet puzzle, simply because she had two names that could connect me to her. Months later, she has lead me in the strangest way to the two of you and some answers.

I have been trying to find info on a printing company that existed in New London, around 1910, give or take 5 years. It was owned and operated by Emmet and Elizabeth AUSTIN. Elizabeth had to sell the company after Emmet was severely injured in an accident at the C.E. Ward Regalia Company (Which they never admitted to.) Emmet passed away from his injuries. Does anyone have information?
