I am trying to organize some information and have stumbled upon some ancestors/relatives that I know "fit" but am not sure where to put them. There probably are even living ones! Here is what I know- HURST, Carol b. April 12, 1938, married GEIGER, Glen Jan. 6, 1961. He was born Dec. 2, 1930. They had 3 daughters who hopefully are still living- Frances May, Gail Ann, and Heidi Lynne. It appears that Carol HURST had a sister named Virginia who married Raymond BICKEL. They had two children Barbara Rae and David Leslie (they were living in Oberlin). Carol HURST's mother was Emma ELMES HURST. Who was Emma ELMES' father and who did she marry? LUCAL, William married ELMES, Clara, March 9, 1909. Who is the father of this Clara ELMES? ELMES, Fredrick b. 1867, d. 1951, married Jane? in England. What is Jane's last name? They had three daughters, Elsie, Grace, and Ethel. I do not believe that any of the girls married. I can supply quite a bit of information from the ELMES back to England and their village. I just do not know of the past 50-100 years!

I have been trying to find out more about a Maud L. MUIR who married a Charles P. HANVILLE on April 19, 1886 in Maxville, Huron County, OH. I have a copy of the marriage record, and a copy of the birth record for their son, Charles F. HANVILLE who was born February 1, 1890 in Peru, Huron County, OH. I was hoping that one of these documents would have Maud's date of birth or some other information about her, but no such luck. Does anyone have any suggestions about where I could look next?

Nancy Paramore Lookup Results-- I checked the Cemetery book and found nothing on Maud or Charles. Have you checked the census records? They are a good source of age, although not always accurate, they give you at least an estimate, and an idea of where to start. Could they be buried in a neighboring county? If they are close to a county line, they might have gone to church in the next county and be buried there. I did a little checking and here is what I have come up with. SSDI via internet-- Charles HANVILLE SSN 276-40-2456 b. 1 Feb 1890 d. Mar 1970 Residence at death 44859 Nova, Ashland, OH Issued- OH [1961 and 1962]. 1910 census via ancestry.com-- Chas P. HANVILLE age 48 State Ohio color W Enumeration District 0042 County Huron birth place PA head of household wife Maud L. 43 born Ohio; son Fred C. 20 born Ohio; son Scott H. 18 born Ohio; dau. Gladys M 16 born Ohio; dau. Elen M. W. 14 born Ohio; dau. Doris M. 9 born Ohio; dau. Francis M. 5 born Ohio; dau. Mabel L. NR born Ohio. Checked SSDI for Fred and Scott, but found nothing on them. Peru isn't that close to a county line, so my suggestion would be to write to Huron County health dept. and get a D/C. This will tell you where they we re born. Might tell you where they are buried and the funeral home. Plus, it might be such a thing, since the son moved to Ashland County, they moved also and are buried in Ashland County.

I receive the Huron County Kinologist and in the most recent Vol. 16, No. 1, 2001 is a list of Peru Village School Pupils including my Grandfather Harry PERRY (in 1899) and his brother Floyd. Also in 1885 are his brother Herbert and sister Lillian and a cousin Claude. Does anyone know how I could get copies of these photos which it says are from the Peru scrapbook found at the Firelands Historical Society in their Research Library? My ancestors in Huron county include Joseph and Sarah (SEWARD) PERRY who came there in 1832. Their son Horace who marries Sarah AMMERMAN, daughter of Simon and Ann (VAN TYNE) AMMERMAN (from Bronson Twp) and their son Frank and Clara (DREW) PERRY who are parents of my grandfather Harry O. PERRY. Clara DREW's parents are Ebenezer DREW and Sarah RYERSON. Sarah's brothers, Nicholas, George and Martin RYERSON, are also in Huron Co. They are children of Peter RYERSON and Elizabeth FARBER. The majority of this family are Dutch and originally come into NY; then go to Vernon, Sussex, NJ; and thence to Huron Co., Peru Twp., OH.

I am trying to find the town where my g-grandfather, Edward RYAN was born in Ireland, 19 Feb 1842. He came to the USA around 1857. His death record states that his father's name was Patrick RYAN, mother unknown. I would like to know if there any other relatives. I have seen queries about RYANs in 1860 time period in Huron County and was wondering if there is connection. Edward RYAN joined the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, 25th Regiment, Co. 'E' 1 Sept 1864 under an assumed name of Edwind HINDS and fought in the Civil War. He was wounded at Honey Hill, SC. He was honorably discharged 15 Jul 1865. Edward RYAN was married to Anna WALTERS 12 Nov 1865 in Huron County, Norwalk, Ohio. Anna WALTERS was born 5 Aug 1844 in Ontario, Canada or Ireland. I would also like to know who her parents were and any other relatives also information on her correct birthplace. I have a copy of the 1870 census of Norwalk Village in the county of Huron, Ohio. The census states Edward RYAN wife Anna was born in Ireland and they have three children Edward, Mary & George. I also have a 1900 Garfield Twp., Newaygo, Michigan census that states Anna was born in Ontario, Canada and her mother was born in Ireland. I also have records with different spelling of Anna's last name WALTERS, WATTERS & WATERS. I have information on Edward & Anna RYAN after they came to Michigan, that I'm willing to share. My grandmother was Sarah RYAN and was married to William A.SUMNER. My mother's maiden name was Anna Lucille SUMNER.

I have the seemingly impossible task of trying to find a surname. The following is information that I know-- Lovina was born 1802 in Rochester, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. That is information from a death certificate in Huron County, Ohio. No parents listed. Lovina married Johnston REA, where I do not know. I do have her as the wife on deeds starting in 1838. Lovina is not on the 1850 census with Johnston REA. The wife's name is listed as Melissa. Lovina shows up on the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census as Johnston REA's wife. The death certificate for Johnston's daughter lists a Melissa EMMONS as the mother. I have a marriage certificate for Elizabeth JOHNSTON/JOHNSON REA, from Lorain County, Ohio, with the date of April 25, 1833. I know from the obituary that Johnston REA emigrated from Ireland in 1818, first going to New Brunswick, Canada, then to PA before settling in OH. He does not show up in the book (kindly looked up by a lady I found on the Beaver County site) of PA Immigrants. I have posted to the Beaver County site. I believe that I have 'covered all my bases' in my search for Lovina's surname. I would appreciate any other avenues to pursue. If it would be possible to check the JOHNSTON and EMMONS surname to see if anything fits I would be very thankful.

I am trying to find out where Fidel SAILE (born 1828) and his wife Mary(maiden name unknown born 1833) are buried and when they died.. As far as I know, Mary was alive at the 1900 census. She was 66 at this time. Fidel SAILE was alive in the 1910 census and was 81. Mary's name was not included in the 1910 census. She must have died sometime between 1900 and 1910. They owned their own home and lived at 289 South West Street in Bellevue, Huron County, Township of Lyme, Ohio. Fidel could have not lived much longer after age 81. They must have been buried in a cemetery in Huron County, because they had lived in that area since the 1870 census. They had 12 children all born in Ohio the first being born in 1853. Some died as infant or small children. Maybe there is a family plot?

Was wondering if anyone has any further information on Alfred C. LYON(S) I'm not sure of the middle name he may also have gone by Charles A. or Cornelius A. LYONS. He was born approx. 1845-1847, as far as I know, Ohio possibly Geauga or Cuyahoga. He was in the 12th Ohio Independent Battery Light Artillary. enlisted in 1863 in New London and mustered out of Camp Chase Columbus 1865. Pension records are not to be found at NARA, but we are still searching. May have had some ties with some familys in Huron or Lorain Co., Ohio. May have possibly gone to Allegan Co. Trowbridge Twp. Michigan. The 1870 Trowbridge Twp. Allegan Co.census shows possibly him living with the Alcotts/Olcotts & Ozmun's. I am in contact with the Olcott/Ozmun in Allegan Mich. Left Michigan to Kansas? Married Hattie/Harriet LISH/LEISH(sp) had a daughter Emmeline 1873, came back to Michigan possibly Allegan had another daughter Ellen 1875 and a son Charles Alfred 1875. and moved back to Cuyhoga Co. Ohio.
